1 /5 Sam Anderson: This is absolutely disgraceful, and I’m convinced Stanford is completely overrated as a hospital. My child was referred by his dentist for a dental issue, and it took EIGHT MONTHS just to get an appointment. When we arrived, they casually informed us the appointment was canceled because our insurance supposedly didn’t approve it. After we did the legwork and called the insurance, we found out it was approved! So we asked for a supervisor, Melissa—who, by the way, left us waiting nearly an hour, only to come back with some excuse about not receiving the referral. We showed her proof that it was emailed, but she still needed “more time” to talk to the referral department. When she finally called back, she didn’t even bother leaving a direct number. We had to wade through their absurd call center for days, with ridiculous wait times and constant disconnections. When we finally got a hold of her, she admitted it was their mistake, but refused to fix it! To make matters worse, she sent us to the pediatric department, which doesn’t even take patients over 12! This is such a joke. I’ve seen better organization in third-world hospitals. Stanford, a “leader in the industry”? They couldn’t even run a lemonade stand.
