David Cervini Our car was damaged while driving along the lake on vacation. We had to get an Uber. We asked the driver if he knew a good place in town; he recommended Eloise. It was a stressful time since we live 500 miles away in San Diego. Kat was amazing! Professional, compassionate and communicative. She was also able to find alternatives that saved our car from being totaled by the insurance company. We have our car back and have them to thank for it! I highly recommend them. (I only wish we could find similar in San Diego!)

Rebecca Waller These guys are awesome! Harley explained the repairs and possible testing my car needed very thoroughly and was very communicative throughout the whole process. I had to drop my car off after hours and that process was super easy too. They got my car in and out pretty quickly and for a very reasonable price. Will definitely be coming here for any future repairs!

Colleen Golden On our drive up to Lake Tahoe from San Diego, our car’s “check engine” light appeared. It was the 4th of July weekend & we were coming up for our daughter’s wedding. Struve automotive was recommended by a local & we brought the car in on Monday morning. Charlie had a counter full of keys for cars awaiting work, but he was very nice & said he would look at our car even though he was very busy. We received a call from him several hours later & they were able to identify the error and let us know the car would be safe to drive! The cost was very reasonable & we cannot thank him enough for helping us out! He even gave us suggestions for hikes in the area. I highly recommend! Colleen & Josh

Shivandu Patel Struve is the real deal when it comes to auto repair in the South Lake Tahoe area. Charlie and his team will never over-bill and always repair the right thing. My Lexus GX470 had a busted CV axle and the team at Struve had the repair done under time & under budget! Highly recommend

Nick Miller This is the best Oil Change place I have ever gone to! They are fast and all the staff are very nice. Everyone goes the extra mile here, asking if you want your pies pumped and windshield cleaned. Truly wonderful! I will absolutely be coming back here again.

Jennifer Culler The fine gentleman working at oil changers had access to only one bay that was working. They got cars through in about 20 minutes, which was miraculously fast. They had great attitudes were apologetic for the wait. Were very professional, and I left satisfied.

Liana Young I had the best experience here. I had the low tire pressure light come on while driving on Highway 89 toward South Lake. Because my tire had recently been patched for a nail, I wanted to get it checked by professionals before continuing my road trip. I looked online and saw a good review for Five Star. When I arrived, the kind couple immediately said one of their mechanics could take a look. Bob, one of the most helpful people I have run into in awhile, checked all of my tires. Not only did he remedy the problem, but he shared valuable knowledge on how to deal with tires in general! I left with such gratitude to him and the whole staff for helping me feel safe to get back on my journey. They all felt like angels to me. I would recommend Five Star Automotive next time you’re in South Lake.

Katherine Mckay We were in town on vacation from San Antonio and had some car issues on our last day. Steve was able to diagnose and fix our suv within a few hours. Other places told us that they wouldn’t be able to get us seen for a week! He was friendly and took his time to talk to us. We definitely recommend this shop if you’re having car issues. Landon Harlan Whole process was less than 15 minutes. Saw mixed reviews between the two businesses and there was no issue. Bob was quick, clear, and helped with multiple copies of docs as the car was purchased out of state. Also got to hang out with this beautiful blondie named Carmen while I waited.

felita Vizcarra My vans battery icon lit up when we arrived here in Lake Tahoe last Saturday..... it disappeared after awhile, but the next day it lit up again. Since we were driving back to Los Angeles today (Monday), I called AAA to check the battery.... and it was diagnosed as problem with the alternator. I called Lake Tahoe Automotive, and they told me to bring the van in. They even ordered the alternator right away prior to my arrival to facilitate the repair. When I got to the shop, they finished the repair in less than an hour. They were so efficient and nice, very good customer service! And the price is paid for the repair was fair enough. Highly recommended!

James Ross Guy “fixed my car” for 2 weeks by gluing the wire for my ignition coil, while doing so he void my warranty. Spark plug was loose and basically not even installed, my car kept misfiring due to his negligence. Never once mentioned it until I tried getting the same ignition coil fixed and the warranty company told me.

Don Larson I had a problem with my 2018 Subaru Outback. It suddenly would not move forward without a “stuttering” action. Got towed to Todd’s shop on a Friday afternoon. He was busy with other cars. We left it with him and by 5:00 PM he had determined that everything seemed fine. He hooked it up to his diagnostic computer and reset the system. Drove it all over with no issues. When I picked up the car before he closed on Friday he would not take any payment…saying “I didn’t do anything”. Oh but he did…He affirmed my faith that there are still people of GREAT CHARACTER. I concur with the other reviewers in their compliments to this man. Great to have a mechanic I can go to when I’m at my Tahoe home.

Alicia Halpern Brought my older Subaru outback here because the air conditioning stopped working and Todd was able to get it back up and running in a very reasonable amount of time for a very fair price. If you need an honest and good mechanic, go to Anything Gas.

Jenn Undefined They represented on the phone to my husband that they understood the engine issue (turbo not giving boost) and that it was within their expertise. They came, fiddled around for hours, couldnt identify the issue, and at one point exacerbated or broke something which then took more time to get back to square one. They never diagnosed the problem, didnt fix it, and sent us to someone else. After a small discount we ended up paying $550 to be in the same position we started with. When we took it to the next mechanic, they saw a broken piece of plumbing leading into the turbo system in 30 seconds. I get that people make mistakes, but this didnt seem like a reasonable one, and I cant imagine charging someone $500 for work that resulted in no benefit when another mechanic found the problem in under a minute.

Kai He I had 2 blown tires on Memorial day and this is the only shop that is able to take me in. I had to have the car towed in and communicate with the owner via text/phone. He took care of everything all I have to do is to show up a few days later to pick up the car. Very honest and dependable guy, highly recommended!

Julio Lombera I went to Lake tahoe on business stayed 3 nights on our last day there. my check engine light came on.we went to OReilly to get a diagnostic check they said we should get the car checked out by a mechanic before heading home since we had a 7 and a half hour drive.we drove to 3 shops and they did not want to help us everyone said we needed and appointment. We went to norms as our last resort to see if they could help.we were giving up hope but thank God that the lady that was there and the mechanic helped us out and explained that I had nothing to worry about with the check engine light it would be ok to drive home. What I am trying to say is that if u are ever in lake tahoe and need an honest and trustworthy mechanic please dont wate your time going anywhere else go to norms they are amazing people.

Mark Wittlich Norm’s was an experience I wasn’t expecting, I always hear Norm’s is too expensive and takes too long to get anything repaired. NOT TRUE, Josh and staff herd that were having financial problems due to medical issues and we blew a head gasket. We got 3 estimates and they beat them all. Even went above and beyond and not only fixed the Head Gasket but put in a new radiator and replaced the Timing Belt and Transmission flush and the 60,000 mile service that was overdue, we got the car back in a timely manner and the car was cleaned and runs perfectly. We are so pleased with Norm’s we will use them from now on. Great Christian people and even better customer service. You guys were there when we needed you and we are so grateful that words cannot explain the happiness we are feeling. Thanks so much for the honest, hard work. You guys deserve a medal. M and Z

Alison Tacker I would give John 10 Stars if I could!!! My Audi was having issues as I was making my way back to The Bay and I knew I wasnt gonna make it. John absolutely made the experience of breaking down the best it could possibly be. He clearly is an expert in his craft. I really appreciated his communication on what the issues were and how quickly he could get it repaired. His expertise and level setting of expectations made me feel comfortable and confident that I had found the best in the business to get me back on the road. If I lived closer, hed be the only person I would trust to work on my car. I often travel to South Tahoe, would be thrilled to schedule further maintenance at Higher Ground.

Renny Slatkin I was in Lake Tahoe for one day and needed an emergency repair for my Audi S4. Higher ground is the only Audi/BMW service in South Lake Tahoe and thus is extremely busy. John, the owner, provided the best service I could have wanted. Not only is he an exceptionally talented technician, hes attentive, honest and really a good guy. He repaired my car while I waited and I was able to catch a half day of skiing before driving 200 miles home. I am extremely grateful to John and would definitely have him service any of my cars in the future. I am so satisfied that I am considering scheduling a maintenance service on my next trip to Tahoe!

Emily Davis I found a huge screw in my tire and called Big Brand Tire & Service while far from home, but just miles from their shop in South Lake Tahoe. "Come right in!" they said, and patched up my tire, free of charge! While I waited, I marveled at the excellent service Erica provided for customers in line and on the phones. She is friendly, knowledgable, energetic, and cheerfully communicative with EVERYONE. Devon was the efficient mechanic assigned to my Toyota and kindly explained this unlucky tire is on its last patch before I should replace it. They were thorough and generous enough to replace my key fob battery too, when they noticed the warning that it needed a new one. I was so impressed with the professionalism and the pace of their great service. Highly recommend for your tire needs anywhere within driving distance!

Mark Foster The whole team down there did a great job for me. This is the first time I actually had a local business up here beat Carson pricing. And these were not off brand…I bought BFG KO3’s. The Alignment guy was really cool as well, caught a ball joint going bad and let me know before the He did his work. I was able to go home, replace the ball joint and they did the Alignment as soon as I returned. Thanks for all the help! See you all for the next set!

They gave me a clear estimate, kept me updated throughout the repair process, and delivered my car looking like new—actually better than before the accident. PdiZzle He an aight mechanic. Dude scams the hell out of you tho bro charge $300+ just to change a thermostat. And he even said there was more wrong with my vehicle when there wasn’t. Don’t go to him he’s loosing it

Wendy King Horrible experience! I am driving cross country in my RV and needed AC repair. Since I was headed to Tahoe, I did some research and found this place. Called ahead, spoke with Tim (I think). I explained the situation - I am staying in the RV and have a dog, and he was so kind and said "drop it off 8am Wednesday, take your dog for a walk and we will likely be done when you get back". I drop it off on Wednesday at 8, the receptionist was cold and abrupt and told me "we will call you when its done". Around 12:30 - 4 1/2 hours later - no call, so I called then to just get a status check. The receptionist was rude and nasty. She told me they probably didnt even look at it yet, but she was too busy to confirm this. I said I have been walking around for hours with my dog - she got worse - she said "you are not our only customer - it will get fixed when we get to it , I am busy working!" She actually put me into tears. So now I am wondering around looking for a shaded place to sit and wait... About an hour later I get a call from Tim. He begins to yell at me telling me hes not going to clean up my RV and he wont even look at it until I remove the items from inside. I had NO idea he had to get on the inside - when we spoke on the phone earlier he never mentioned needing to get inside. I got back there removed my personal items so he could get into the engine from the inside and he finally did the work. The AC only runs kind of cold now, but at least it works a little. After traveling from Florida to California - this was the first horrible people encounter I had. They are absolutely terrible people. They know they have a captive audience and treated me like CRAP! And their work is only ok. I cried most of the day because of how they spoke to me. I only hope this was an isolated incident. I pray that they consider the feelings of their customers before they speak for now on. And I hope they stop telling people something that is just not true (take your dog for a walk and it will be done quickly) Tim also spoke down to me when I reminded him about our earlier conversation, and his excuse for taking 5 hours before looking at my RV was - " its 200 degrees out here and your motor needed to cool". First off - it was in the 70s, secondly, I only drove about 3 miles to get there, and I told him that. The experience was so bad that I might not ever go back to Tahoe to visit. It just makes me re-live the horrible day...

Jim Herrmann I needed some body work done on my car and had a very tight schedule. This organization stepped up and really helped me out. They were not only speedy, they were incredible at keeping me informed with accurate information, and the finished product was perfection. This was perhaps the best experience I have had with any kind of auto repair shop. If you are looking for auto body work in the South Lake Tahoe area, I cant recommend them highly enough.

Bill Butkovich Everybody is friendly as well as professional and they provide a wonderfull service with excellent repairs in a timely manner. The quality of the work was fantastic and you cannot even tell that the car had been in an accident. In my opinion if you go to Southside Auto body you cant go wrong on repairs you need.

james madison Went into Franks on a friday afternoon. Explained that the starter had gone out on our diesel powered motorhome and we were at a near by campground. Frank said could call Monday and we would arrange replacement. 0800 Monday Frank called and said they would be out at 8:30. Matt arrived on time, was courteous, considerate, and went right to work. Two hours later job complete. What more could I ask. First rate operation all the way around. His shop looks like an old timey garage but man they know what they are doing. Thanks Frank and Matt!!
