Diane Micheil Literally the best cut and color in all the land. This man is a genius with his hands. I live around the world and I will never let anyone else do my hair. The shine, the perfection of tone, everything is gorgeous every time. This is why he gets best salon of alameda year after year.

Sherry I absolutely love everything about this place—the ambiance, the people, and especially Rose! Being new to the area, I was in desperate need of some serious hair TLC, and by sheer luck, I found her. I couldn’t be happier! She truly listened to my vision and brought it to life perfectly. It’s rare for me to instantly love something, but she completely nailed it. Rose is the color queen! Plus, every time I visit, I’m greeted with warmth and genuine acknowledgment, which makes the energy here unmatched.

Bullis Moraima (Mo mo) Very good customer service and atmosphere. Every hairstylist was attentive to their customers needs. I love that the owner Robert took the time to come over to me, introduce himself, and see if I needed anything. All the staff were incredible. This will be my go-to salon from now on.

Sheila Madigan Enrique has cut my hair for the last couple years. For the most part I have been satisfied but he has always been one of those hair dressers that does a combination of what you ask for and what he thinks is best. The last two cuts have been extremely disappointing. A couple months ago I asked to cut my previously long hair to shoulder length. He cut it a few inches below my shoulders. I just came in and asked for just above my shoulders. The pic is what I got. When I sent him a text expressing my dissatisfaction he literally laughed. Offering no compassion for the fact that it will take months to grow it out. I believe you should treat people better.

Carrie McClish I am a relative newcomer to Ringlets - I followed my longtime hair stylist, Nichole, here a few months ago. My experiences so far have been very positive. Pamela, the owner, was very welcoming and warm. Although this place is near a corner of a very lively street, the setting is bright, warm and soothing, thanks to the R & B soundtrack playing in the background. Parking can be a challenge but the site is accessible via public transportation.

Leah Michelle I’ve been looking for a permanent local salon to get my hair right for a while. I was at lunch one day and I saw the cutest shop ever and decided to make an appointment. I’ve been natural for 10+ years and I have really tight curls with lots of density and decided I wanted to cut it off. I arrived at my appointment and met Miss Pamela and was greeted by her lovely dog. I enjoyed the overall vibe in the shop from the decor to the music. I got a wash, blow dry, cut, and press. I absolutely love my end result! I loved my experience there, got to chat for the entirety of my appointment and it really was overall just a nice experience. I really recommend visiting!

Eric Delore Great friendly consistent service over these many years. Started here with haircuts and styles from Brenda and now also visit for mani/pedi and waxing with Jenny. Jeanne Lam Years ago, I used to be a loyal customer to iSalon and then one day I decided to venture off to explore other salons. After bouncing around a few stylists I made it back to iSalon this morning for a haircut with Ashley, and just a few days before my birthday. Ashley actually cut my hair before and I recalled she did a good job. Today, I showed her a couple pictures of the hair styles I had in mind and she quickly got to work. She’s friendly, professional, personable, and highly experienced. I left with healthy, shiny, fresh layers, and I’m extremely pleased with the results. I would highly recommend Ashley for your next hair appointment!

She respected my ask, and she was so communicative throughout my whole appointment just telling me what she was doing. And constantly checking in with me. She left my hair beautiful!

Morgan Zaytseva They tend to run behind with scheduled appointments. A few months ago I had to wait 20 minutes past my appointment time before I could be seated. Last week I had to wait 45 minutes. If iSalon reads this, I recommend allowing more time for haircuts. Mine took 1.5 hours. If there was an appointment after mine on the hour, they would have had to wait 30 minutes. The haircut itself was top-notch though with great service once I was seated.

LM L For the last 12 years, I have spent so much money trying to find the right stylist to cut my curly hair. Every place claimed to have the curly hair expertise, but I usually felt the cut was just so-so. That is the complete opposite of my experience at Head Designs. Sheila took the time to listen to my wants and looked over all the reference photos I brought. I went from chin length wimpy curls that loved to frizz at the hint of rain to the CUTEST pixie shag. I was never blessed with thick hair. To my dismay, part of my aging process has been thinning hair that is coarser and more fragile. An experienced stylist understands the different hair textures between younger and older clients because as people age, their hair naturally changes in texture, density, and condition, requiring different styling techniques and product choices to achieve the best results. Sheila understood my concerns and cut my hair in such a way that the thinner areas are no longer noticeable. Now all I need to do is wash it 1-2x/week and use a styling gel. On the do nothing days, I wet down any areas that are flattened or have cowlicks, fluff up with my hands and Im done. I was Sheilas lone customer that afternoon so she was able to take care of me with zero distractions. She has a calm demeanor and a gentle touch. What I appreciate the most is how Sheila really paid attention and listened to me. There is street parking and a lot behind the shop. And after leaving with such a good haircut, I treated myself to a pastry from the bakery next door. Looking forward to my next cut. Thank you, Sheila!!

Mir Gileadi This will always be hands down the best hair experience, especially for curly hair. Sheila will always give you the time patience and care you need for different types of hair needs. She takes great care of her clients and also her hair products are amazing! She even offers consultations. If you are curious or wondering, this is the place to go!

Angelica Valentine During wedding planning I saw only a few East Bay salons even offering curly bridal packages and then they were all booked up -- I was STRESSED! But then I found Sheila. I scheduled a consultation so she could go over the inspiration photos I had and then get familiar with my hair to see what was possible. She opened up early for me on wedding day and did an amazing job on an updo that stayed put all night and then some. I even just went back for a haircut recently because she was so great and had much better prices than other curly salons around. Run dont walk to Shelia for your hair cuts and bridal styles!

Danielle Fischer Lauren is amazing. I have wavy curly hair, and its been tricky to find some one who knows how to cut it. I had some pretty specific requests, and she delivered on all fronts. She started our appointment with a consultation, asking me about my preferences and really seeking to understand what I wanted in terms of shape and day-to-day. This is the first time in many years that Ive loved my hair cut -- and fwiw Ive gone to upscale salons (and random salons) throughout SF, SoCal, and DC. Im planning to just go to Lauren from now on. She was also super nice and friendly. The salon is sooo cute, and the neighborhood is great too. Highly recommend

Pi Palomo Melody is the nail tech I’ve been searching for! I got my nails junked out with rhinestones, rose quarts and dangles and two weeks later they are still going strong. It is crazy how hard it is to find a clutch nail tech in Oakland but melody turns it tf out. So happy!!

Alexis Canales my go to for ultra customized and on trend hairstyles. they do a perfect job and the services are gender affirming and the customer care is impeccable! been seeing Eric for 2+ years now and plan to keep coming back. :) prices are very comparable to the area too! the salon is nice and clean and snacks and water are available. the best haircuts I’ve ever had !:)

Karen V Chin Fantastic hair, beauty and nails salon. Beautiful, warm, bright, spotless, and inviting. Lisa transitioned from working at Tomos on Park Avenue for 22 years to here. She listens to what you want and understands how to cut Asian hair. Prices are very reasonable. Wash, cut and style = $35. There is a free parking lot attached to the building at the back.

She takes the time to teach you how to style your hair better if you ask questions (which I need!), never seems to rush through anything, asks questions so she understands what you want. Cee Rose Came in and had Jeramie fix my hacksaw home job. Appointments available by texting too which was super convenient. He asked me what I wanted and also gave me his opinion. I didnt have much idea, Just layers! I want a hair person who just knows what to do already and he understood! Im not a hairstylist! BEAUTIFY ME! My hair turned out great and we made some small talk and it was just... a really easy time. I would recommend Jeramie 10/10. Good prices. Great location.

Jessica De Silva I had a haircut with Krista and she was amazing!! She asked all the right questions and listened to what I wanted and my concerns. My hair is fine and we took it from long with grown out bangs to about collar bone length with a new-to-me style of bangs that I loved. I already have my bang trim and next cut appointments booked.

Jenny Dodd I had my first appointment today coming from out of town with Linda, she was amazing! In the past I’ve walked away from haircuts only to go and style it differently on my own, but Linda asked a lot of questions and was clearly keeping in mind the aesthetic I like from my hair. All great work. Also very friendly but never forces conversation - super appreciated when you’re in the chair for a while. I’ve liked every stylist I’ve met here. They’re sweet and seem to operate similarly to Jessica. They were also great about getting back to me and paying attention to my needs the first time I booked. Hannah Benício Horrifying. Do not let Joe touch your head. I came in asking for a blunt bob. No layers, super simple, should have been easy. I arrived with my hair in a messy bun. He took my hair tie out and just started cutting my crimped, wavy hair, because you know, no need to get it straight right? He said my cheeks were too big for a bob so he would just trim off the dead ends. I reluctantly agreed, but stated again no layers. He proceeded to chop chunks into my hair and after a whopping 15 minutes total, he was done. He then made me Venmo him, and stated his rate was actually 25% higher than the website where I booked (his website…). I left and after my friend convinced me this was NOT OKAY and it would take years to grow out these missing chunks, I went back to confront him. He agreed to refund me, but (no surprise) didn’t actually send me my money back, even after I requested it twice on Venmo. This guy needs to be shut down. Complete nightmare. I will say the two girls (Daniella and Fam) working there were so sweet and tried to offer help via patching the holes with extensions. I would trust them with my hair, given they actually know what they are doing, but the owner should not be touching people’s heads.

Kathleen Crandall I love love love this salon! This is a new salon in Jack London Square in Oakland. It’s the sister to Anton Salon on College Avenue in Berkeley. It’s a great location and it’s adorable inside. There is a gorgeous mural on the back wall that is a mini Masterpiece of art work. The small shop feels welcoming and light and hip. An added bonus are the chairs that are the most comfortable I’ve ever sat in for a hair appointment. I walked in without an appointment and I was greeted with smiles and a warm welcome. I would walk in again just for the welcome. But then they checked to see if anyone was available to help me with a wash and blow out. I got it done within minutes. I loved how I looked when she finished. Outside is a table and umbrella to have a drink or sandwich from a great deli next door if you need to wait. Jose, the owner could not be any more lovely. I watched him give a cut to a young man while I was getting my hair done and he’s amazing. The finished haircut was stunning. The young man was thrilled with the result. I can’t wait for my cut from him next time. I have an appointment this time! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this salon. You’re never going to want to go anywhere else. Added bonus- PARKING is ample and so easy. Make an appointment TODAY!

Christina Gifford Daniella is a gem! I live in the area and saw that this place had opened a sister salon in Jack London. I stopped in for a conditioning treatment and a blowout. Daniella did a great job and made my hair look great! The highlight was her dog sitting on my lap the entire time.

Socorro I LOVED my experience! I havent had my hair professionally cut in more than 15 years because I dont trust people with my curls. Susie is immensely kind and made me feel comfortable and heard. she impressed me with her talent: I told her I wanted a cut that retained my length as much as possible and I left leaving way hotter than I came in - she gave me what I didnt even know I wanted! overall, she did an excellent job and I would recommend her cado cut to people with curly hair as long as youre able to financially invest

Have her dyed my hair, bleached first then add a toner with a color I showed her in a picture. She replicated the color without a flaw and made the long 6 hour appointment flew by. I may still have coffee stains on my shirts, but my hair looks professional - even though I dont have time to touch it, other than yanking a brush through it in the morning. I was worried that a Brazilian blowout would be harsh, but instead my hair has become healthier since I started visiting Arellano, thanks to Carloss expert care.

Aminata Touncara This woman gets it! She understands how to cut and style curly texture hair without you having to explain forever. The place is Ethiopian owned but you don’t have to be Ethiopian to enter. I encourage my fellow African American people to try this lady out. I tried it out and as a mixed black person she got my sort of “in between” hair texture and hooked me up! She has what every African American woman and Habesha needs :)

Itopia Mills I recently moved here from the Bay Area and have had a terrible time finding a salon. I found Mames by chance and was able to go in same day. I had an amazing experience!
