04-2025 Meyda Hair Salon in The Best 18 Hair Salons in Oakland, CA (part 2) STrUT Oakland: A Boutique Salon - Oakland Amanda Joseph: Hands down the best experience Iāve had in a black hair, or any hair, salon. I say black hair because we ALL know the rundown when you book an appt for a press and thereās 2 people in front of you, and 2 people behind you- and two getting done while you are! Not strut! I had my OWN time slot BOTH times I visited. Once I got the curly girl deva cut by Carmen and next time I got a cut and press by Antoinette. I could go on and on, the shop is clean and intimate, and they give you a CLEAN robe to put on, they offer water... etc. i also received a hair consultation both times, and I could tell that both women are very knowledgeable about hair, true students of their craft. I am just really impressed! Highly recommend this place.
The Hairmonstr Salon - Alameda Karen Wells: Amazing experience! Highly educated about color and cut!! And the hot towel with the shampoo is to die for. Her studio is private and comfortable with snacks and refreshments. Love the location too, easy to park.
Cuts N Stuff Hair Designs - Oakland Bella Fica: I recently visited a Black hair salon for the first time in a decade, and I couldnt have chosen a better place to rejuvenate my hair. The salon is beautifully designed, and the owner, Charlotte, was incredibly welcoming.
I appreciated that the service prices were clearly displayed, along with QR codes for easy payment. The other stylists and staff members were also very friendly, creating a warm atmosphere. I feel like Ive finally found my go-to salon. Charlotte offered valuable suggestions for addressing some hair loss Im experiencing, and I left feeling optimistic. Ive already scheduled my next appointment for this year.

I live around the world and I will never let anyone else do my hair. The shine, the perfection of tone, everything is gorgeous every time. This is why he gets best salon of alameda year after year.

Weeds Salon - Oakland Courtney Neelon: Ive been going to Weeds for several years. The ambiance is cozy and comfortable. My stylist Jessica does a great job bringing my Instagram inspiration hair to life. I can always count on her to be real with me on what looks good and doesnt. She makes sure that I am happy with my cut before I leave and makes time for me to get in the schedule as needed. Weve been together through many cuts, colors, and blowouts. Their new line of products is incredible. I love going here and you will too!
Empress Hair Styling - Oakland Elizabeth Rodriguez: Mr. Mark did devine justice to my hair. I asked him for the short trending haircut and he, as the professional and experienced hairstylist he is, told me it was the "Italian bob" everyone is going for. He is excellent! And so positive too, hell make you feel good about your new look, if youre looking to treat yourself, this is the place!
Spank Salon - Alameda Evelyn M. Sabino: Last month, Bradley Crane gave me the best haircut Ive ever had in my life. No, really. Im writing this review today because even after all this time Im amazed at what he did. I walked in and said, "Im not going to tell you what I want because I know youll know what to do with it." And he did. He layered my slightly curly/wavy hair in a way that when it AIR DRIES I look like I put effort in and it looks great every day. Thats never happened with my hair before. It always puffs up into a mess when air drying. Somehow, SOMEHOW, hes worked magic. I thought I got lucky for a few days after showering with the new cut, but a month later it still air dries incredibly.
iSalon - Alameda Eric Delore: Great friendly consistent service over these many years. Started here with haircuts and styles from Brenda and now also visit for mani/pedi and waxing with Jenny. My son sees their talented curly hair specialist, Nelly. They are adding a head spa station soon! I am looking forward to trying it out!! PS ample free parking.
