The Loft Salon and Spa - Santa Cruz Mya Amor: I have been debating writing a review for a while but everyone I tell about my experience has told me that I should. I came in to my appointment about 5/10 minutes early. No one was in the front desk area so I wasnt greeted until the hair stylist, Michelle, came out like 10 minutes late for out scheduled appointment. It was my first time going into the salon and the stylist didnt even introduce herself. I had told her that I was nervous going to a new place and she was kind of cold and didnt do much to make me feel comfortable When cutting my hair I trusted some of her advice/recommendations, but I did let her know that I DID NOT want choppy layers. She then proceeded to do them choppy and tell me that if she didnt do them choppy that I wouldnt be able to see them. She also didnt even style my hair after and told me that she wasnt going to do it so that I could see what it looks like without styling which I realized if I am paying over $100 I should at least walk out with a blowout. Overall, I was not happy with my experience and ended up having to go somewhere else to get my hair fixed.
The Nook - Santa Cruz liana ps: I had an appointment with Myra and I wanted to leave a review because this was such an amazing haircut experience. Myra was incredibly sweet and thoughtful and gentle the entire time and listened and helped me make sense of what I was asking for. She was so thoughtful about checking in throughout the haircut to see if I wanted to make any changes and made me feel so able to ask for what I wanted. I was honestly stunned by how much care she put into cutting my hair, it was amazing. She was so detailed and did such a great job:) I’m so thankful I got to be with her! I recommend to anyone wanting a short haircut or any haircut
Y Studio Hair Salon - Santa Cruz Christine Smith: Thayse is a truly remarkable hair stylist. She cares very deeply about creating an experience for her customers that far exceeds expectations. The second I walk in the doors I’m always greeted like an old friend, with warm smiles and genuine inquisitions into how I am, how work is- etc. There is so much warmth and love in this salon between Thayse and her customers and between her and her coworkers.
So, I have pretty unruly curly hair, and it’s extremely difficult to find a hair stylist I trust to make me not look ridiculous. I researched for days and called every studio in Santa Cruz before I went to Thayse, and I’m so glad I did! She has helped me keep my hair looking healthy, she’s helped me change color for the first time ever, and she helped me take a huge leap and cut 7/8 inches off my hair! I absolutely adore this salon and would recommend her to ANY friend with or without curly hair ❤️
Pleasure Head Salon - Santa Cruz Colleen Ferrell: Shawna is amazing! Even though I didn’t have a solid idea of my haircut goal, she listened to everything I said, and did an excellent job creating a haircut that I love.
I have wavy/curly hair and anybody with that type of hair knows it’s a challenge to find a stylist you can trust - so happy I found this salon and Shawna!
ELEGANT HAIRSTYLE - Santa Cruz Anca R: I love Elegant Hairstyle. I drive from Redwood City to get my hair done with Leticia. My hair is very dry and thin, she knows how to handle it and uses only high quality products without harmful or harsh chemichals. Shes so patient and takes her time, shes a master with colors. The violets shes pulled off are so rich Ive gotten compliments on my hair all the way in Nicaragua asking me what color Ive used and what treatment. I couldnt use anyone else. Leticia is worth each and every penny and mile to get to her. I highly recommend.
Stranded Beauty Bar - Santa Cruz Bridgitte Willard: Jason is a nice guy, but a completely overrated stylist. My highlights came out thick, stripe-y and crude. He cut my bangs way too short IMMEDIATELY after we discussed what a huge problem it is for me.
I went back to have my bang area color fixed, as there was a thick stripe of too blonde hair that was farther from the root than the rest. He added in a TON of lowlights which look grey; now it doesnt blend with the rest of my hair. Cried and cried. My hair wasnt perfect before, but now its a total mess. I have no idea what to do, and I wouldnt let him try to fix it again anyway. So, so bummed. Super expensive too.
LV Hair Extensions Salon - Santa Cruz Claire Olivier: i’m literally writing this review immediately after getting home from my appointment because it was 100% the best experience i have ever had in my life when it comes to coming to a salon. Leslie and her team of amazing women literally performed a miracle on my half brown/half green hair and turned it into something beautiful. Also they are all so sweet and welcoming, it really felt like I was in a room full of friends. i cannot recommend LV enough and i will never get my hair done anywhere else!! thank you so much!!
Alchemy Haus of Hair - Santa Cruz Eliana Cowan: Michaela is truly a curl mastermind! She took my hair from lifeless to bouncy happy curls in just one session together. Ive learned so much about how to care for my hair better from her. She takes her time, listens carefully, and creates absolute magic. Thank you, Michaela!
Kinship Hair Co. - Santa Cruz Mary Claire Menconeri: Just had my first cut done here with Lauren and I can’t say enough what a great experience it was. Lauren put real time and effort into finding out the style I was looking for and then executed it beautifully. Her thoughtfulness and care made all the difference. It’s been many years since I’ve had a haircut that made me so happy. It’s a bonus that the salon itself is gorgeous with amazing light. Plus online booking and not feeling pressured to buy products are major pluses. I finally have a salon I’m happy to become a regular at!

These are all basic attributes a business should have, especially when dealing with something as sensitive as hair.
This salon seriously LACKS all 3.
Credit where credit is due, but also accountability where accountability is due.
The stylist completely mishandled my keratin treatment by neglecting to use the product properly. My hair was left stiff and dry. After talking to another stylist/owner and confirming with the MANUFACTURER, it was clear the product was mishandled. They offered a redo, which was the bare minimum. The stylist even admitted she doesn’t like doing keratin treatments and removed it from her card. The service should have been reassigned to someone else when I requested an appointment. Terrible management, miscommunication nightmare. Proceed with extreme CAUTION if you care about your hair at all!
