1 /5 Em Squared: I called to schedule a first appt with Dr. Newmark and was transferred to “Intake Dept” where I waited on hold 10 mins. I finally got “Michelle,” who talked a mile a minute and I couldn’t understand her. I told her I was a bit hard of hearing and that I’d record this to transcribe later but could she please speak louder and repeat herself? She spoke louder but again, too fast for me to catch. I apologized profusely and said I was embarrassed but had to ask her again to kindly slow down. She got irritated and short and gave up on her scripted speech and said loudly that they needed a credit or debit card on file and would charge (1st it was $50, then she said $60), plus any co-pay, for appts xxld less than one business day. She asked for my name and was still clearly irritated and I gave it to her and apologized again for irritating her but she said she wasn’t irritated, however her tone and shortness w/me clearly indicated she was. I started getting really upset/teary and told her I’d need to call back but I don’t plan to. It was hard enough for me to get the nerve to call this time.
