Attention: on warm days you need more than half gallon drinking water. THERE IS NO TAB OR WATER FOUNTAIN IN THE WHOLE TRAIL, only at parking lot. Most of the return path is uphill and rarely shade, be prepare with cap or other sun protections. Definitely recommended and worth to see. Check pix. There is no park wifi and no network coverage.
Bloomer Cut - Auburn Bruce Meads: Easy trail out there

Placer County Museum - Auburn Stephen Conrad: Placer County Museum is pretty epic. Honestly, I had a lot of well-preserved things about auburn and cool stuff.The older lady knew a lot about the museum she even suggested I work there. They have a whole sheriff antique room . And a super old medicinal soda machine its was so freaking cool take your kids take hella people its free and awesome
Joss House Museum - Auburn briantravelman: I deliberately left home later, so I could catch this museum when its open. I got there at 11:20 on a Sat, and it was closed, despite Google Maps saying it opens at 10:30. I guess they dont have any docents, as no one wants to work for free in this economy. Judging from the pictures and the exterior, I probably didnt miss too much. A bit sad though. The one cool thing in downtown and the city is too greedy to pay someone to staff it.
Ashford Park - Auburn Joy Kodani: Ashford Park is one of our favorite places to take our dog to play. The huge dog park is a nice grassy area with a waterfall in one corner, providing plenty of space for running or playing fetch. On warmer days, our Aussie loves to cool his toes in the waterfall. For families, theres a nice playground and open fields for kids to play.
Robie Point - Auburn NorCal Wood Wildcat: Easy trail with wide dirt road perfect for jogging/running. Only a couple of decent viewpoints so not much to it, but you are surrounded by shade for a good part of it. There are much better hikes in the Auburn. I would leave this one for dog walkers and runners.
Railhead Park - Auburn Alex Alba: Such a great, large, new and modernized pork with an epic playground for my child, a huge field to lick the ball around, a nice dog park for our crowded canines, with an awesome pond including a school of fish and 2 turtles!! Love it!
Griffith Quarry Park & Museum - Penryn Sarah Janus: Great little park to explore! The paths are well groomed and clear. There is some elevation, but nothing too big. Good for a family outing. Nice picnic tables and garbage cans near the parking. Small, maybe 3 or so miles if you took every path!
Quarry Road Trail - Auburn Eddie Lieu: Quarry Road Trail makes for a lovely hike for anyone looking for something to do on a weekend. The trail is super easy with an elevation gain of just over 270 feet or so. It’s in and out and doesn’t loop. Dog friendly. Bike friendly. The trail goes for about 5 or 6 miles in but we stop at about 2.7 miles or so (where the water fall is). There are a couple of flat areas with tables and benches that would make for a great picnic. There are restrooms along the way so that’s super convenient. There’s a closed off mine entrance that’s neat to see. Definitely recommend checking this trail out. You won’t be disappointed. Parking however is challenging. There are just a few spot at the entrance and fills up very quickly. Many resort to parking alongside the road.

Mt. Vernon Winery - Auburn Melanie Sue: I don’t usually leave reviews, but my experience at Mt. Vernon Winery was so astoundingly bad, I feel obligated to warn others.
From the moment I arrived, the place reeked of cheapness disguised as "rustic charm." The tasting room was overcrowded, understaffed, and questionably clean. Sticky counters, dusty wine bottles, and an overall lack of attention to hygiene made it feel more like a forgotten garage sale than a reputable winery.
The wine? Insulting for the price. Ive had $10 grocery store bottles with more depth and character. Every glass tasted like someone had watered it down and thrown in a handful of pennies for flavor. And don’t even get me started on the outrageous prices. Its like theyre banking on tourists who don’t know any better. Sadly, some probably fall for it.
Staff were either clueless or couldn’t be bothered to fake friendliness. Questions about the wine were met with blank stares or bored shrugs. At one point, I overheard a staff member mocking a guest behind their back. Classy.
The worst part? There was a general feeling of neglect and disorganization that made the whole place feel…off. It didn’t feel welcoming or safe. Just uncomfortable.
There are countless wineries that are warm, authentic, and worth every penny. Mt. Vernon Winery is not one of them. Save yourself the time, the money, and the bad taste in your mouth — literally and figuratively.
