Joss House Museum - Auburn (CA)

1 /5 briantravelman: I deliberately left home later, so I could catch this museum when its open. I got there at 11:20 on a Sat, and it was closed, despite Google Maps saying it opens at 10:30. I guess they dont have any docents, as no one wants to work for free in this economy. Judging from the pictures and the exterior, I probably didnt miss too much. A bit sad though. The one cool thing in downtown and the city is too greedy to pay someone to staff it.

5 /5 Melany: Although the hours are incredibly limited, this is a must see for any history buff. The Joss House has been incredibly preserved and its like stepping back in time. It has been lovingly preserved and the docents do a fantastic job of sharing its amazing history.

5 /5 Bette Barr: , This site is an historical treasure! Its officially open the first Saturday of the month, but really open most Saturdays. The docents are more than gracious and competent. This building served many purposes, educational, religious, cultural and residential. Be sure to see every nook and cranny, and especially hear about the special artifacts hidden during WW2. And theres no admission charge although youre able to leave a donation.

4 /5 Tammy Lachey: Nice little museum. I thoroughly enjoy going to museums and learning every bit of history I possibly can. You just stop by if you ever get the chance.

1 /5 Elaine Pl: BEWARE!!! This museums telephone representative Stephanie assured me that the museum would be open today. I showed up within the time frame that she gave me. The door was LOCKED. These museum owners are unreliable and untrustworthy.
