Marie Priscilla “PRIIS” I recently visited Brenton Lee Studio for a much needed haircut and they were so awesome to booked me in on their fully scheduled day. I couldnt be happier with the experience! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The staff were professional and attentive, making sure to listen to exactly what I wanted. Lupita, in particular, was incredibly skilled and made great suggestions for my hair. The cut itself was FLAWLESS – I walked out feeling refreshed and confident. I loved how well they took the time to customize the style to suit my face shape and hair texture. Highly recommend this studio for anyone looking for top-notch service and a fantastic haircut!

Tina Garcia Brenton is an expert! Hes been done my hair for years now and Im always beyond happy with his work. Im always getting compliments on my color, literally stopped on the street by women asking where I get my hair done. I could not give him a higher recommendation. He is also a great teacher and mentor, his stylists learn his meticulous technique and Id trust any of them with my hair.

Menzer Ara was friendly, personable, and efficient without compromising on quality. He is the first stylist I’ve been to and I will no longer be going to barber shops. I highly recommend his services. Tremendous experience and service.

consumersteve Ara is an artist, and I mean that quite seriously. He is the ONLY one I trust to cut my hair. I’ve been coming here for well over a year now and I’ll never go anywhere else at this point. Not only does he know exactly what to do to make my hair look perfect — I don’t even have to say a word, he just knows what to do — he is super professional, fast, respectful, and friendly. Not only that, his studio is immaculate, clean, comfortable, and cozy. Every time I leave Ara’s studio, I feel reinvigorated not only by the amazing haircut he gave me, but by his energy and positive spirit. I completely trust this man and love his work — again, he really is an artist!

Ramon Cano Cristobal Disappointed with the quality for the price I have been going to Ara Hair Studio for about 8 months now and my experiences have been inconsistent. The first time I got my hair cut here, I didnt like it but chose not to say anything. A week later, I went back and explained my concerns, but Ara charged me full price for what I felt was a correction, as if it was my fault that the cut was unsatisfactory. The second haircut was great, which made me think the issues had been resolved. However, my most recent visit was disappointing again. A week after my haircut, my friends commented that I looked like I had gone to a barber instead of a professional hairstylist. At first, I thought they were exaggerating, but when I checked with another stylist, they pointed out that my haircut was not done well - there was texture on the sides, but the back had no layers at all. For a place that charges almost $100, I expected consistent quality and attention to detail. Unfortunately, this experience made me feel like I didnt get what I paid for. I wont be returning.

Lydia Caradine So long story short, I had an appointment with a different stylist for Senegalese twists but she was unable to do them at the last minute. I asked her for a referral however and she connected me to Tecumsah. Tecumsah asked me what I needed, moved some things around and got me in to do my twists the same day. She was knowledgeable, professional, kind and funny. She listened to and delivered on my requests and offered lovely refreshments. Her prices are reasonable and her location in Pasadena is great if you’ve been looking for a black hair care professional in the valley. I highly, highly, highly recommend her. Also, my twists came out beautifully if you’re wondering!

Julie Threats Tecumsah is the hardest working stylist in America! She does all styles! Since she has been doing my passion twists, my hair has grown tremendously. I also use her "MO Deep hair growth oil" Its keeps my scalp moisturized! Call her up and get your doo tight and right!

Chrissy Love I emailed to book an appointment and no response. Then I called and was told to send pics after that a few brief correspondences but there was no appointment booked. My birthday is coming and all I wanted was two trims, 2 washes and a wig install. Black ppl do better with customer service.

Caroline Panci Absolutely loooove The Maya and how I walk out of there. I don’t always know exactly what I want, but I know I want to feel and look refreshed and Azelle has nailed it EVERY. SINGLE. TIME! First off, the vibes are always RIGHT. The playlist playing in the background is always mood boosting, the stylists are so friendly and welcoming, and the ambiance is relaxing and fun. I’ve done many tones and colors to my hair with Azelle over the years and have always left feeling amazing! Quality stylists delivering quality services!

Tiffany Tanaka This review is long overdue! The Maya Salon is AMAZING! Great services, good vibe and people. I got my hair dyed and cut and it was such a great re-fresh! They even paired the best products for my hair which was a huge help because Im always looking for a great conditioner - LA water makes my hair dry! Love all the products they carry and especially love the community driven brand the owner has created. I was lucky enough to attend one of The Maya Salon l events and bought a variety of locally made products and got to meet the coolest people! Cant wait to go to another one. Vanessa Castañeda Curtis is amazing. He gives you exactly what you request. My highlights came out beautiful. I started bringing my teen daughters who have curly hair and they love their cuts. During COVID, I cut my own hair and he helped me get it back into shape. I have been a loyal follower for a number of years.

Linda M. Curtis is incredible! He has done my hair for eight years. He is Salon 55, a treasure nestled in another salon at 10 S Mentor Ave, Pasadena, CA. I have incredibly long, black hair (way below my waist). Not easy to do, but Curtis does a great job. He colors it, trims it and conditions it until it ends up shiny and as soft as baby hair—and he does all this at a very fair, more than fair price. I could not do it anywhere else for the same price and be as happy. I’m moving to Northern California and excited about my going, except for leaving my great hairdresser behind. I will be hard pressed to find anyone as grand as Curtis.

Adora Curtis is always sweet, friendly, and efficient. His prices are fair, and he is wonderful to chat with while you are getting your hair done. He seems to be able to handle pretty much any hairstyle and gives frank advice about whether you should have your haircut a certain way, or dye your hair or not. Ive had him literally talk me out of getting services with him because he knew that what I was asking for was not going to turn out the way I thought it was going to turn out. I greatly appreciate that and dont hesitate to follow with his advice. The shop is always well decorated clean and neat.

Amy Hawes I LOVE Lock and Crown, specifically my stylist Lauren! I had a terrible experience at a chain salon years ago and then found another salon and stylist who never quite did my hair how I wanted despite having inspiration pictures. When I started going to Lauren, she made my hair exactly how I wanted! It was like she read my mind! She makes me feel so beautiful when I leave the salon and she is worth every penny! I trust her completely with my hair! She is not only an amazing stylist, she is just a wonderful person who is a joy to chat with during our appointments!

Steve Hwang Aryga is the best. Ive been a client for over 5 years, and even after I moved away from Pasadena I make the drive to get my hair cut with her every month. She is friendly and accommodating, and Ive always been extremely happy with my haircuts.

Casey Morris I was referred to Dulce Lopez of Salon Oveja Negra from a stylist in Chicago, IL. I was moving to LA and needed someone I could trust. Ive been going to her ever since. Almost 3 years!! I have thick curls and for most of my life went to places that had no idea how to take care of curls, or give guidance. Especially for men. Dulce completely changed the way I take care of my hair AND my scalp. I have a regiment now. I know what to stay away from product-wise. She is more than a stylist!

Bethany Gilbertson Ive had the honor of knowing Dulce for over a decade and heres what Id like for you to know: 1. She is kind, attentive, and an excellent listener. 2. She REALLY loves learning, and is always educating herself about curls - products that are healthy for us - etc. You can tell immediately when you ask her a question about the science of hydration, for example, how jazzed she is about passing on knowledge to her clients. 3. She cares about her clients, and remembers what youve shared in the chair. I have always had short curly hair of some kind, and shes taken me through a pixie to a bob, and back again many times. I always know Im in good hands. And, knowing her for this long...my hair has changed (postpartum, aging) and she has guided me along the way. Salon highlights: - Beautiful and laid back - Easy parking all around - Close to great shops and coffee - I love the Innersense products she carries and will continue to get to know their line. * She also cuts my husbands hair so its a whole family affair. We are big, big fans of Dulce and have followed her to wherever she is cutting hair. And now, were incredibly proud to see her open up her own salon.

Ive been seeing her for 15 years and each visit is even better. She is big on staying up to date with new haircare and technology. Ive been getting scalp treatments and my scalp health has improved 100%. She takes her time asking what Ive been doing to care for my hair and scalp and she is a true stylist.

Julie Passanisi I am 73 years old and asked Marina to create my eyebrow and she performed magic on my eyebrows. She was delicate and precise creating my eyebrows. Her tenderness is a benefit to any individual who has services. I am thinking of having another beauty treatment. I highly recommend Marina for any procedure.

Susan Bridger Just got a quick trim from Gloria, she did a great job, fast, professional, had a really good intuition on how to make an older woman look nice & a really nice price too. Ill definitly be going back for a trim in a few months when I need tidying up again.

Melvin Cañas Have been going there for a few years now and Ive been pretty happy with my service, basic haircut. I always ask for Mario. He seems to be on demand often. Very friendly and accommodating guy. Hes good at what he does. Have not tried the other stylists but they all appear nice and attentive also. I would recommend the place, especially for the prices also compared to the commerciallized, franchised salons.

lluvia verdin Federico has been doing my hair for a few years now. I don’t think I’ll ever do my hair anywhere else. He goes above and beyond to do his job as perfect as possible. I always recommend all my family and friends to go to him. -10 stars if possible!

k san I dont understand why people dont give an honest review nowadays. It was my first time to ever go for a 2 block cut. I saw this place had flawless reviews.i had to check it out for myself. Yelp, google, 5stars across the board. This is too good to be true. I had a consult to later I found out was Frederick. We spoke on what I wanted to achieve for my head. Tbh it was very easy to create an appointment no doubt. Even on a Friday afternoon. The last text I received was that there is $15 dollar late fee, and a $70 last minute cancellation. I head in 30min early . Come in to find out Noah was about to dig into his lunch. Patiently waiting up for my 2pm appointment. Noah and Frederick. Come out. Looks like theyre headed for lunch. 2pm comes around. And now Im angry. Hes late.Theyre both late. I dont understand why both had to leave for lunch since Noah already got food.If i am expected to pay a late fee. That should be expected from them as well. I sat down. With noah. And tells me that the length of my hair wont be long enough for the cut and that for today he could create a solid foundation.. I told them maybe its best to come back later when my length is ideal . Frederick.gave me this speil about being independent contractors and that this is their livelihood. Blah blah. So I gave it shot. With high expectations. I sat through this . I was expecting perfection. After 1 hour of a cut. It still comes out to be uneven. Since they are masters of their craft. I call bullshit. $70 dollars for an imperfect haircut.

Yoshi M Federico cut and styled my hair amazingly! Took the time to see some reference photos and looked at the shape of my head so that the haircut goes well with it! Definitely going to be main stylist!

Rachel Ariel Murphy Talin is amazing! The best cut Ive ever had and the most perfect color every single time. She has attention to detail and really truly wants to make sure that youre happy with your hair. She is an awesome person so its always an enjoyable time and she is so insanely talented. Having Talin do your hair cant be beat! She explains everything she does which is great - but I trust her so much that Id take her opinion and advice no matter what haha

Tonya Blair I was looking for a salon who installed extensions (My hair was Breaking off at the ends and very brittle) Then I found “Cheveux Hair Boutique” Talin is my hair dresser…. A.k.a. my hair doctor. I am so glad I found her She was able to install my extensions. We got my hair back to health took a long time, but you just gotta be Patient. After my hair grew back in, I took off the extensions. My hair grew even more, but I wanted some more density so we added some K tips and sew in In the back for some fullness. I absolutely love my hair and trust her Completely.

Stavroula Spiliotis Talin is one of the most talented and kindest hair stylist/ salon owner out there. She listens to your wants and also helps guide me whenever I don’t know what to do with my hair. Seriously, some of the best haircuts I have received have been from her and I always leave happy. She rescued my hair after someone else butchered it years ago and I have trusted her ever since.

L J Kelly is absolutely phenomenal! She truly listened to what I wanted and delivered a perfect haircut. Not only is her skill incredible, but she’s kind and made me feel comfortable and relaxed throughout the whole appointment. I cant recommend her enough - Ive finally found my go-to stylist!. She’s a heaven sent.

Aline Souza I went to a treatment from Groupon and I had the worst experience of my life. The guy (I think Italian) pulled my hair a lot and washed it in a very harsh way. I went home with a hair less hydrated, scalp hurting and looking way worst than I came in. Dont go to this guy unless you hair is annoyingly straight; strong and sparse. My hair is curly-wavy; lots and thin all he did was break and damage it.

Laura Roccia I love going VP salon. It is open and airy with an artistic feel. I feel very comfortable there and can be myself! Everyone is friendly and it is a relaxing experience. Vincenzo is an amazing stylist and colorist. He is very passionate about having the products be organic for the health of his customers and is a true leader in the industry. I love the way he does my hair and is very focused and detailed with his work. He makes me feel comfortable and brings my natural beauty. I always feel very happy I choose VP salon for all of these reasons.

Alina Aleksandrova I had the most incredible experience at this salon. The salon itself was clean and very nice. The front desk staff was friendly and accommodating. My appointment with Ruth was absolutely wonderful! She listened to all of my concerns, worked with my wishes for how I wanted my hair to look, and adjusted for my hair type and styling preferences. For the first time ever, I walked out of a salon with my hair looking exactly how I pictured it in my head! Ruth was also super sweet and so much fun to talk to! I highly recommend this salon!

Abigail Orellana Im not one to write reviews often, only when Ive had a notably bad or VERY good experience. I hadnt had a haircut in ages and was really looking forward to one this season. As customers, we want everything to go smoothly. I booked my appointment, but the day before, my stylist, Rose, messaged me saying shes sick and didnt go to work. I didnt mind so I wished her a fast recovery and rescheduled for two weeks later. On the day of my rescheduled appointment, just before driving 30 miles to the salon, I messaged Rose countless times before my 5 pm appointment. No response. I drove to the salon with still no reply. While on the way, I called the salon to double-check. They couldnt find my name or appointment. I mentioned I rescheduled with Rose, and they said theyd double-check and call me back. Keep in mind, Im on my way, an hours drive. I never got a call back, despite calling twice. Meanwhile, I received a message from Rose at 4:15 pm saying, Did the salon not tell you? Im sick again... I was about to arrive at the salon at 4:25 pm. I turned around and went home. Later, the salon called, asking if I was there for my 5:10 pm appointment. To keep this short, the salon is very disorganized, lacks responsibility. Im disappointed. I canceled my appointment, but they wanted me to reschedule again! Crazy. I declined. Anyways, I hope this serves as a warning. It might be a misunderstanding, but honestly, Im a patient person, and I feel like I was taken advantage of.

C F My favorite, Andy, has moved to the 1202 Salon in Pasadena. I’ve been going to him for probably 10 years for color and cut. He always gets both my color and cut JUST right. My root color is a very, very dark blonde and before I found Andy, not everyone got the highlights right. Sometimes they were underdone which gives you a reddish, brassy tone OR overdone and you’re a platinum blonde. Somehow, Andy has always gotten my color just PERFECT. He’s also a very nice guy!

Solomon Naman Freddies been doing my hair for over 20 years. Not one bad cut or color. The man is simply the best artist in the business.

B L I gave this salon a 1 star review on Yelp because of the way I was treated by the owner. She then started privately messaging me trying to intimidate me to get my review taken down and that I should of never called and asked questions. I went into the salon for treatment for my dry hair. She told me my hair was unfixable and looked like "a mullet". How insilting! Other reviews on Yelp state that the same woman will sabotage your hair if you dont like the initail work she did. I believe it! Be careful of this place. Bad owner!

Rocio Garcia I came to get a Keratin hair treatment along with a trim because Ive always had problems with my hair being crazy and poofy!! Christine Kim Recently got my hair done with Kristin (@kolourkrissy) and she was amazing! She took the time, care, and effort to make sure I got the hair style that I wanted and made sure to follow up with me on hair products and maintenance. Having straight Asian hair that is thick and tends to get a little poofy, she really got me to trust her to know what style would work best for my hair while getting the style that I wanted. For anyone who is getting a cut or color done, I HIGHLY recommend getting your hair done by Kristin!

Indie I wish I could say I had a great experience at this salon, as it isn’t the first time I have left the salon feeling like I was unsatisfied and disappointed with my results. I went in for a consultation and strand test to see if Union could handle my color correction needs. During the consultation, they tested a small section of hair on the back of my head. They left the product on for only five minutes, blow-dried it without using foil, and the result was a brassy orange. That alone didn’t leave me feeling very confident, but I decided to move forward because they assured me they could fix my color. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as smoothly as I had hoped. The stylist who did the consultation (stylist #1) told me she wasn’t available, so they scheduled me with another stylist (stylist #2) I had never met. I’m leaving names out for anonymity. I was asked to pay a $100 deposit to book the appointment, and they quoted me $750 for the color correction. I understand that stylist #2 runs her own business and has her own pricing structure, but this price was still much higher (almost double?than what i ended up paying at a very reputable salon that delivered amazing results (almost got my whole head to platinum blonde which was very deceiving due to the test strand being orange but i assume it was because of their odd and unprofessional process of going about my test strand) Despite my hesitations, I decided to trust the process and move forward. On the day of my appointment, stylist #2 had to cancel due to the fires in the area, which was completely understandable given the circumstances. However, the rescheduling process was frustrating. Stylist #2’s only available times conflicted with my school schedule, and the next opening wasn’t for another month. Having already paid the $100 deposit, I felt stuck, as I’d planned my schedule around the original appointment and now faced a long wait for a solution. To their credit, stylist #2 reached out three days later and refunded my deposit, which I appreciated. I also understand that circumstances beyond their control can happen. However, the overall experience—from the consultation process to the lack of flexibility in rescheduling—left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. While I respect that stylist #2 is running her own business and has her own pricing and policies, the lack of communication and the difficulty in accommodating my schedule made this experience a challenging one. I’m glad I got my deposit back, but I wouldn’t return to this salon. There are other places that provide better communication, more reasonable pricing, and an overall smoother experience.

Denise Mandap I had a haircut with Kristin a couple days ago and she’s amazing! She made sure to ask questions about specifics with the cut to ensure that it was exactly what I was looking for. She really takes her time to make sure everything, down to the styling, is perfect! I’ve already recommended her to friends and family!

Janine Cortez I have trusted Marco with my hair for 13 years. I am also a hairstylist, so that says a lot about his skillset. He is a master of all cuts, but my personal favorites are his pixies (super hard to find a good pixie cutter) and fantastic bobs. He is also known for his exceptional BARBERING on all hair textures. His salon is beautiful and extremely clean, with a laid back, welcoming vibe. If you want to go to salon with talented, humble, hardworking people... Lead Salon is your place!

Krista Diaz Ive been going to Marco every 4-6 weeks for almost 10 years. He does the best hair color that compliments my eyes and skin (and covers my grays). His new salon is immaculate and airy. There is plenty of street parking. He works efficiently and attentively to get me in and out quickly. He is a local Pasadena treasure who gives back to the community and treats his staff with respect. I highly recommend Lead Salon to anyone who asks!!

Marlena S I went to see Marco via fiend recommendation. He decided to do all over ash bleach over my long hair. I have so far not recovered. Last time anyone damaged my hair to this level was when I lived in Eastern Europe. The bleach smelled so bad I was coughing from the smell. My hair was ruined. It took a lot of money and time to recover. He didnt own his mistake. He also didnt offer a refund. Service was conducted by Marco Delgado at salon he was right before opening this one - I received email about his new salon. So the review stands as it is for his work.

I arrived here without an appointment and was squeezed in without too much of a wait. I would recommend this salon to anyone in need of an excellent haircut!
