1 /5 Mel L: I’ve been a patient at Dr. Shawn Hamilton’s office for a few years now, and I’m extremely disappointed with the care (or lack thereof) that I’ve received. Not once in all this time have I actually seen Dr. Hamilton herself. Every single visit or consultation has been handled by a Physician Assistant or a Nurse Practitioner.
One of the most frustrating aspects is the way they handle radiology results. After waiting for the results, you’re only offered a phone appointment with the PA on Fridays—apparently, that’s the only day the PA is available. If you need your results earlier, too bad. You’re forced to wait, regardless of the urgency of your situation.
While I understand that many healthcare providers work remotely these days, and that it may not make sense to have staff on-site if there aren’t enough patients, this system has serious flaws. For someone in pain, the delays are unacceptable. My experience has been a constant cycle of waiting: waiting for an appointment, then waiting for radiology, waiting for the results, and finally, waiting to be referred to a specialist—who, of course, you’ll have to wait weeks to see as well.
The bottom line is that it takes over a month just to start getting any real treatment or relief from pain. This office’s approach to patient care is sorely lacking, and I can no longer recommend Dr. Hamilton’s practice to anyone in need of timely and effective medical care.
