1 /5 Shane Ieans: The hours are terrible, especially if you have kids and you need to squeeze the gym in when you can. Only being open to 10pm on Fridays and only until 8pm on the weekends is limiting. There are about two employees on the staff that are beyond pleasant, and then there’s a major drop off in customer service, where their phone screens have rendered them zombies. The equipment layout is terrible. Machines pinched in together when there is so much wasted space. Two different turfs on the top floor, that aren’t utilized enough to keep. There are not enough cables or benches during all hours. I’ve gone to this gym for 6+ months at 6am, another 4+ at 10am, and the last 6+ at 9pm, and the sporadic trends in traffic leave me confused on how this is not being addressed. The dumbbells don’t go too heavy on the weight, and when I’ve asked management/employees about heavier weights they just nod their heads in agreement, but not providing any solutions. The gym stinks, smell like mildew, which is probably coming from the turf. I gotta know how this is considered a “Signature” Crunch, because outside of the towels that are provided, the gym isn’t giving me anything else. Lastly, when I first signed up with my wife we were paying $110 for our two memberships, and she took a year break because of giving birth and recovery, and when she signed back up, I’m now paying $140 a month. When I questioned the GM who was signing her back up, he ignored my questions around pricing. I don’t feel good about this gym, and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone in the San Mateo area. The management and staff just seem complacent, as if they’ve been limited in their own roles and power, to the point they’ve just given up trying, and that’s why all they do is not there heads in appeasement, so that they can get around the slightly difficult obstacle of actually helping a customer.
