CrossFit Ergo - Paso Robles
jon whitener: One year ago I saw a picture of myself in a wetsuit- If you ever need a life changing wake up call, put on a wetsuit. I have 3 beautiful daughters that I want to be able to play sports with when I’m 60 so knew I had to do something major. To help the cause, I found out I had high uncontrollable blood pressure and high cholesterol. To hear the doctors tell me this at 33 years old was pretty scary. I slowly started to watch what I ate and tried to educate myself on nutritional facts. I lost 7, 10 then 15 total pounds and started feeling motivated. Being motivated lead me to researching gyms on the coast to help with my weight loss journey. I came across CrossFit Ergo. Read some reviews and after getting up enough courage, I called to get more info. I’m so glad I did. I had this idea in my head that I had to be “in shape” or “fit” before trying it out. Which is totally not the case. The coaches and members at Ergo are always willing to help and answer ANY questions you have (I asked a ton of questions). They take away any intimidation factor and are so welcoming. Mike, the owner got me on a nutritional program that I’m currently still on. Nutrition is the hardest part of weight loss and Mike is my biggest cheerleader. I’ve never been a part of a gym where the coaches, members and owner truly care about your well-being. Long story short, I went from over 280 lbs to now 230 lbs in one year. I went from 4 blood pressure pills a day to ZERO pills a day. Hearing the doctor say I’m healthy…. WOW. It’s definitely not easy. You will be sore. Probably for days. Making a lifestyle change isn’t easy. If you think you can’t do something, then you won’t. If I can do this, anyone can do this. Stop waiting. Make the change and come see what I’m talking about.

Fitness 19 - San Mateo
Roman Chadnov: Absolute worst customer experience. I came with a friend who helped me with some exercises and they kicked us out claiming he cant be there as a "coach". Refused to show rules stating that friends cant help each other. At least they gave me a refund otherwise it would have been 0 stars
24 Hour Fitness - San Mateo
24 Hour Fitness
Rob Chiang: I highly recommend Pat for personal training. Ive been coming here for 6 years and its a great value. The staff is very friendly and accommodating no matter the need.
The Fix Personal Training Studio - San Mateo
Patrick Eibl: As someone who has trained his whole live and is very selective with trainers, I can say with confidence that Mike is absolutely exceptional. He combines a no-nonsense approach with expert adjustments and motivation, which gave me noticeable results within weeks. Beyond the workouts, he provides extremely valuable guidance on recovery, nutrition, and overall lifestyle making each session not just training, but true personal improvement. He’s also fun to be around, bringing positive energy along with his professionalism. One of the best trainers I’ve ever worked with. Would recommend to friends and family any day… (images show results after training for just a few month …)
Equinox San Mateo - San Mateo
Erica Walters: Tommy made my Equinox sign-up experience seamless. He was professional, knowledgeable, and truly attentive to my goals. I never felt rushed or pressured — instead, I left feeling confident and excited about joining. His service sets the tone for what makes Equinox such a standout community. Highly recommend connecting with Tommy if you’re considering membership!
Basecamp Fitness San Mateo - San Mateo
Tara Young: 100/10 stars!!! I love Basecamp San Mateo! The coaches are super knowledgeable and fun, keeping the class engaged and pushing us to our limits. They will also demonstrate and help correct your form. The format is fast paced and intense, but a great workout. The front desk staff are also extremely friendly, helpful, and welcoming. There is a great community of members! Absolutely would recommend!
Crunch Fitness - San Mateo
Crunch Fitness
Jon Sofer: I’m giving this place 2 stars for three main reasons, which unfortunately seem to never improve: 1. No towels during rush hours – This is unacceptable. I don’t care if it’s peak time; more than 60% of the times I’ve come in, there have been no towels available. Please stock more towels and have enough washing machines to keep up with demand. This is part of what we pay our maintenance fees for. 2. Front desk staff not very helpful or friendly – It’s mostly the same two people, and they seem more focused on talking to each other than engaging with members or answering questions. 3. Showers not always clean – The showers need to be cleaned more thoroughly and more often. Overall, there is a lot of room for improvement here, and I hope management takes these concerns seriously.
Morph Fitness - San Mateo
Rochelle Pereira: Training with an instructor has always had its benefits. I have been with Morph fitness for the last four months training with Jean. I love the increased muscle tone and boost in my energy level so far. My work schedule can be a bit unpredictable and I have always been able to work out adjusted timings when necessary. Jean has been positively motivating as an instructor and easy to work with. I am glad I started to focus on my health and Morph made it achievable.
F45 Training San Mateo - San Mateo
Michelle Carothers: Ive now gone to 10 5am classes at F45 San Mateo and LOVE it! All the people are so welcoming and coach Kelly is the best, helping me with form and pushing me to lift just a little heavier on certain moves. The best way to start a day!
