Minda Newhouse The gel lab is my new happy place. Their customer service is unmatched. I broke my foot and they literally helped me get in out of the salon and moved my car for me. With my nails I never dreamed I could have had this much growth and happy nail beds but they mad it happen (this after 3 appointments with gel builder). But more than anything I love the community, the sisterhood, the laughs, and general vibes. If you live in the Bay Area you are dumb if you go anywhere else.

Mikaela Labadan My nails after 4 weeks of growth. The owner was really nice and did a trial nail to make sure it really matched my inspo pic. The service was quick and clean, and they helped me fix my nails after a bad gel overlay job at another salon.

Amber Ost I have been a client at The Gel Lab for about a year now, and my nails have never been as long and healthy as they are now. Its all because of the love and care of The Gel Lab team. Klaire and her team are very knowledgeable and skilled, and provide such a warm and welcoming environment. I look forward to each appointment! Its like going to a friends house to hang out and get your nails done. Shout out to Ari for being my nail bestie :) I cant say enough about this place!

Socheata Sek I had such a fun and luxurious experience here. The vibes and ambiance were perfect. If youre looking to get pampered, this is the place to go. The staff is super friendly - they offer snacks and drinks upon entering. Also, loved the aesthetics in this salon. Will definitely be back next time Im in town.

Komal Shetye I have been going to Gel Lab for a couple of months now and it’s been great! The atmosphere is fun, vibrant yet relaxing. Claire, the owner and the techs are really nice and always know exactly what I want. Gel-x is definitely a step above acrylic and has been helping my natural nails also grow out healthily. There’s a reason people keep coming back to this place :)

Rubi Cortes This was my first time here and the ladies are so kind. It’s a relaxing, calm place. Tracy did such a great job on my nails; she was so meticulous and paid attention to detail. Love my nails!!!

Meg I recently moved back to the Peninsula. I had the hardest time finding a good salon. This place is AMAZING! Tracy does a perfect job every time. Bella is wonderful too! If youre looking for an upscale nail salon that wont disappoint, you should definitely come here! Everyone is so nice too :)

Masy S I am in love with this salon! They have done such a beautiful job with my nails! I show them pictures of ideas I like with patterns, jewels, and glitter and they make it happen. But they make it better! They harness extreme talent and make it an art. Sure they are great at single colors, but if you are like me and looking for artful nails this is your place!! It is so difficult to find someone who can do patterns....but someone who can do patterns, gemstones, jewels, 3D artwork, glitter work, flowers, artwork....well lets just say unicorns do exist!! The staff is very friendly and happy on top of being knowledgeable. I enjoy talking with them whenever I have gone. I am looking forward to having them do my nails for my wedding because I would trust no one else!

LL Kal Booked in to do my lashes, I was charged $185 for medium hybrid lashes. Went home found out the price range is usually around $80-$120. I was ripped off and the lashes I got done was definitely not worth $185. Owner is desperate for $$ so over charging new customers. Will not be returning to this salon.

Ace During our recent pedicure appointment, my wife and I were disappointed with the service we received. Despite having a reservation, the staff seemed rushed, and the service fell short. The 10-minute massage was more like 3-4 minutes, and the technician seemed more focused on walk-in customers, which resulted in a hasty and unsatisfactory pedicure that led to an injury. Additionally, when we offered a $10 tip, it was met with a disrespectful eye roll. My advice to the owner is to ensure that the staff is trained to prioritize customer satisfaction and avoid overbooking when they are already busy.

Arteivia Lilomaiava Muaava I recently brought my 5-year-old daughter in for her first nail salon visit, and the staff at Water Nail Salon were so sweet and kind to her. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making the experience enjoyable for both of us. I got a full set, and Tommy did an amazing job, always checking in to make sure I was happy with the shape, length, and overall look. The salon is clean, and their attention to detail is fantastic. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend this salon. Five stars!

Didnt dry off the backs of my legs, nor massage them. It was weird. Only scrubbed and lotioned my shins. No menu of services just assumed. It was ok. Pretty average.

nemo tham Me and my wife first time at a spa for her bday. The ladies are very nice. We were put to sleep twice it was so relaxing. Definitely would go back. Those ladies deserve extra tips they putting in that work! Especially the old ladies got some strong hands i enjoyed it.

Only thing is that I wasnt explained too well with the agenda order of things, so I waited for the person to alert me on the next steps. Ash Ram My boyfriend and I came here yesterday for the first time for his birthday. We honestly had a great experience here. We booked a couples 30 min hot tub and 1 hour massage with the add ons. The place was very clean and friendly. They gave us water after our massage with some cookies and 2 face mask as complimentary on our way out. We will certainly book our next massage here again.

Sura I liked the place and the body massage, but i didnt like it when they forced me to give tips on my way out! I wasnt informed that i have to give tips, and the tips are already priced too, so you cant give whatever you want. The front desk lady is kida rude and ruined my experience.

Helen’s deep tissue massages are simply the best! After my intense cycling tours, I always rely on her expertise to help my muscles recover faster, and she never disappoints. Karla OConnor Nam did such a great job with my Wednesday Addams Halloween nails!! Was so detailed oriented and got the spider, moon, and ghosts on point. This is my regular nail spa and they never disappoint in customer service. They quote you right away and I leave really satisfied. I highly recommend Nam for his efficiency and detail in nails. Ilona Kelvet Been to this place 3 times. Always have gotten good service and good nails which is why I came here today. However, my manicure was done in 25mins, skin clipped carelessly to the point I almost got a wound and the coating / drying was not well done with edges remaining white, polish still transparent and not equally coated. To top it off I asked for matted polish, she forgot and did shiny. I will have to redo this in 1-2 days in a different salon so money and time waisted. I think they need to stick to their standards or all the clients will run off elsewhere.

Luisa B Wonderful experience. Maya (Mi) and her colleague were super nice and did an excellent job. She was super precise and took her time with my nails. Ask for her if you book a mani or pedi! She helped me with choosing my color and I love it so much! Even when I messed up my one finger right after they finished the manicure, she immediately took off the entire nail polish from that finger at painted it all new. No questions asked. Thank you so much! I will definitely be back!

Corinne Oliver went for a hand massage. jennifer went above and beyond to give me the most relaxing 20+ minutes. she added extra time and gave me several minutes with the hot stones. will absolutely be coming back next time i’m in town :) thank you jennifer!!!!

I would return, I have found my new place and so close to Daly City / SF Border, right next to Starbucks and a cross the street from café. Who: Jennifer and Luna Space: Relaxing, recently renovated, music on point First time visiting, noticed no reviews, so figured I would give it a chance. As soon as I came in, I felt relaxed. Jennifer helped me pick the color I was looking for, something neutral, that wouldn’t blend with my skin, with a pink tone. Luna did great in preparing and doing mani. Jennifer was quick and great at feet, super fast. You could tell she was trying to help everyone and giving everyone attention. - Great customer service! Luna was very nice and assisted in everything to make mani easy and not ruin it. She also did the waxing, very quick and made sure comfortable. Everyone on staff pleasant. Luna did her best to perfect it, and I highly appreciate it. Highly encourage you all to go there, bc they won’t rush and they will be there for you. 5 star customer service.

viviana suarez Well I was looking for a Nail Salon in the area and I found this on yelp also a friend of mine recommended it, so without hesitation, I went to this place. The ladies were so nice, but unfortunately, the lady who was doing my manicure was rushing, making me feel anxious, she was doing it so fast, and some of my nails got bumped and got bubbles in them. The pedicure was nice and good but the quality of the nail polish is rough, or I dont know what happen but it does not look at all... I left some pics and a video.

Christina Ng Started with a call a couple weeks before, to make a reservation for a group of 5 for a bridal party. Requested Jennifer for the bride. Called a couple days before to confirm. Actual day we only had 4 of us but they didn’t blink or say anything about the change. Appreciated that there was no issues with the change. We did mani and pedi. They offer bottled water. I am very wishy washy about the nail color. Always look at others and cannot decide. I showed photos but ended up not likening the color so they tested a couple for me to make sure I was happy. Everyone was friendly some nail techs were a lot more talkative which was nice. Would definitely come back. My gel manicure lasted 2.5 weeks. It would probably last a month but it was growing off.

Kasey Swinford I had a truly AMAZING experience at this salon. I can not say enough good things about the customer service, the atmosphere and the quality of work provided. I was well over due for a mani pedi. Lyly did my gel x manicure and it is FLAWLESS. Jessica did my pedicure and it’s equally as great. I don’t live here but will be back to this salon again.

V Richards Absolutely top tier experience. Jennifer was welcoming and kind and the staff was so professional. I was a walk-in and they took me with no problems. The work they did was AMAZING. Tiffany Wu This is a low profile location so its relatively easy to get an appointment (I usually call the same day) and a slight uphill walk up a block is good for my behind :) The staff here do a very thorough job and are super friendly. Space is clean and well ventilated (I dont love the smell of nail polish that can be overwhelming in some places). Mary worked on my pedicure yesterday and I was impressed by how much care she took, even doing some buffing to smooth out the nail bed... definitely more than a lot of other folks have done!

Melika Nejad So today actually wasnt the first time I came to this nail salon, in fact, I promised I wouldnt come back to this salon a long time ago because the first time I came my nail stylist was a bit anti-social and rough with positioning my hands. This time around I wasnt able to even get my nails done. We arrived at 5:30 when our (my sister and is) appointment was and we had to wait almost an hour and they only took my sister. At the end of the day when they asked me if I wanted to get my nails done I just said no or else we would have stayed there until 8 pm (we ended up leaving at 7 pm). My sisters nails looked decent, but seemed amateur and she was cut a couple of times which was what happened during my first experience with them getting acrylics. I dont usually make reviews like these but I couldnt help but make one for this establishment since I have been to multiple places and this is the only place I may never come back to. I hope the business does well regardless of this review, but I hope they use this as constructive criticism to better their services.

Tara Ghanizadeh My initial visit here was a bit rocky, but after expressing I wasnt happy with my gel x set Jennifer (the manager) had me come back the next day to get a brand new set. Vi was the technician who helped me this time, and she took the time to ask and understand exactly what i wanted. She was so sweet, gentle and kind. I absolutely adore my new set, and will definitely be back to see her for my future sets.Thank you ladies!!

Lindsay Crom Universe nails always provides a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere! The nail techs are professional and well qualified! Over several years I’ve tried other places but always find I never get the same level of services or care! my nails not only look great and last- they are healthier and always feel much better after a universe pedicure and manicure!!! The extra touches the warm rock massage, the water/tea and treat and the techs always ask me how I’m doing and how my services are! High recommend a visit anytime you need a little relaxation or pampering and all your nail care needs!

Nicole Baltazar Mediocre at best. Nail tech behaved strangely. Insisted on not cutting my nails even though I asked her to multiple times, did a poor job filing, resulting in jagged ends. Did not fix (except to add top coat, which did not fix the problem). Left the salon with pock-marked nails (see pic) and had to go back for them to fix. Not enough color coats so color looks uneven. Made my finger bleed. She kept complementing her own work the entire time, saying how beautiful it was. I dont agree.

Suna Mert I had permanent nail polish, the next day, an extra fee was asked to fix my broken nails. Their approach was not friendly. I am not satisfied at all, I definitely do not recommend it to anyone. They also charge more than other salons. And the finished version at the end, its amazing. We asked if you liked it, they answered yes, we liked it very much. I think they are making fun of me.

David Really mediocre manicure from Julie. I guess dont come here if youre a guy. I cant imagine she does this bad a job with her other customers. The pedicures that we got were very nice, though.

Jen Chon $45 for basic pedicure +$10 for extra 10 min of massage + $30 for mani Color was smeared on the sides of my toe nails and past the cuticles! So messy! Massage - I kept asking her to massage harder and also to focus on the feet and ankle but she kept just rubbing my calf (easy movements). Really disappointing when I requested extra massage time. My friend had his finger nails done as mani with no color, and black dirt remained beneath his finger nails!!! Total for 1 Mani + 2 Pedi was $195 = $140+$20+$20+15 (3 different tips) To top it off, the massage chair my friend sat in didnt work and we asked if they had a cup or bottle of water as we were thirsty. They said NO. For the high prices here, its extremely poor quality service with not even a "perk" of them bringing out a cup of water. Definitely cannot recommend!

gabriella musacchia La Vie manicures are AMAZING and super easy to book online. Best results with gel builder but I’ve had excellent experiences with regular polish, gel, and gelx tips too. I also came in with a picture and co-created a creative twist on french for Folsom. See pictures. These manicures last forever!

Chau You Found my new favorite nail bar on the peninsula! So many options and colors to choose from. Pearl did my nails today and she went above and beyond to get me the color and shade I wanted! Service was wonderful and she did an amazing job!

Nica C.T. La Vie Nail Bar is a beautiful salon. It’s my favorite place to visit when I need to pause a busy week to care for myself. The interior is chic and clean. The nail artists and technicians are skilled and hospitable. They have GREAT FASHION too. Their soft hues of beige and pink match the design of the salon. Melissa Meyer Excellent service. Clean with a friendly vibe. Highly recommend. I prefer my nails short and natural. They did a great job and did not try to sell me anything I didn’t want. They did a great job on my feet and toes, nice calf & foot massage. Would return for sure.

Liva C The service at this spa is excellent, and the staff are welcoming. However, the gel nail polish has consistently been disappointing. It starts peeling off in less than a week, and right after the application, the polish often appears uneven, with the edges sticking out. Within a day or two, it begins to chip and snag on things, making it impossible to maintain. I stopped visiting the spa because of this issue, but when I gave it another try, the same problem occurred. It seems like either the quality of the polish they use is poor, or the application process isn’t done correctly.

Song Chang I love nail salons like this where the service is impeccable and the ambience is calm and serene. There are no TVs, just calming music. From the moment I walked in, being greeted, and then taken care of immediately, to the nail technicians working on me, I loved everything about this place. You can tell they care about customer service and its soooo clean, spotless. The floors, the ceilings, the detailing, the decor, everything is intentional and I love that. I also loved loved loved that I could book online. I hate having to call in to make an appointment. Ha spent an hour on my pedicure and Lily did my nails. Both were great and I will definitely be book marking this spot and coming back.

Aashka Soni I wish I would have read some of the older reviews— do NOT recommend and disappointed in how sloppy the manicure was. For the price point, I would expect perfect edges and work. Note though- I would give it 5 stars if it was just for David’s work on the pedicure— was clean and perfection.

I went in today and got so lucky to have Vo do my gel manicure (with design) and Ha do my regular pedicure and I’m OBSESSED!!! They both did a phenomenal job! I found my new regular nail salon and couldn’t be more grateful and excited to go back! I couldn’t recommend this place more highly, thank you so much!!! Liliana Trujillo Came in at 1pm and for 30 min had my feet in cold Water. Never once did she come and offered to change it or to see if I was okay. Its now 2pm ONE FULL hour of me walking in and NOONE came and offered anything.. No friendly service or communication whatsoever. Lady in a purple outfit completely ignored me and assisted another client during that full hour. Horrible service!

This time I got a set of acrylics and a pedicure before a bachelorette party. I just absolutely love the champagne gold color that they help me pick for my fingers and the flowers they added to my toes!!

Frankie C service is very quick and friendly! I love that you can do walkins or appointments. Staff and diligent and friendly. The place is pretty spacious and clean. I had a terrible manicure once and thought I’d never get one again but Linda and her staff made me feel comfortable enough to want to try again and the nail shape came out perfect, cuticles neat and clean and best of all they didn’t make me bleed (which is what I was worried about). This is my second time back and will be back again, would definitely recommend if you’re in the area and the prices are very reasonable!

Min Peng Service was good and friendly, but the quality was so bad. I got the normal gel manicure. No fancy stuff. When it’s done, it looked okay. However, one of my nails chipped after 2 days. Within one week, 4 more nails chipped…I was just in shock. I will have to get it removed soon since it bothers me so much.

reese turner They were so nice & my gel manicure looked great. Two full nails fell off (not chipped) 4 days after the manicure. I went back in and they fixed it for free (so kind) just for two more to fall off the next day. Kind people, great atmosphere, but the shortest gel manicure I’ve ever had :(

Lupe Corona Just some of my most recent full sets. I love going here. This is my favorite spot in the entire Bay Area. I literally live in Oakland and make sure to still make my appts here. I am one of those people who comes in with a picture of what I want and they never fail me! Also the sets last FOREVER. Or at least a month in my experience with not one nail falling off. I kid you not I work at VS and use my nails to stab through tape and open boxes up. Durable, affordable for the bay, and amazing!!

Shannon Dean I made an appointment for a pedicure with salon four days ago for 4:30. I watched the employee write down the appointment in their book. When I arrived on time for my appointment, the three employees were just getting started on three other customers. When I asked if they were going to be able to service me on time the employee kept trying to brush me off stating that it would be in 15 minutes. When 15 minutes rolled around I asked her to be honest with me and to tell me when they could get to me. She continued to evade the question and tried to pacify me by saying “soon,” when clearly each of the employees were at the beginning of their services. She also kept trying to tell me to “just sit inside.” Say what? Sit INSIDE?! COVID tells me otherwise. I guess this business decided to prioritize a walk-in over an appointment. Horrible customer service!

Amandeep B. Been coming here for the past 7 years! Amy & Tina have been my go to since day 1! Tina has always been flexible with her schedule. Despite a busy schedule , she will squeeze you in if possible. All the staff are kind, helpful & respectful. Pricing is decent compared to other nail spas. Definitely give them a try!!

Kay Valenz Wear a face mask if you plan on getting your nails done here! The lady who did my nails did a decent job but her coworkers had a nasty attitude. One of them stepped all over my shoes and didnt even apologize for it. She then began filing someone elses nails with the electric-filer pretty near my face, which created a heavy-unhealthy nasty nail dust for anyone to breathe! I asked her to please wait till I was done, or perhaps use another chair, because I didnt want to breath someone elses nasty old-nail-dust... and she replied "you move"! And began badmouthing me in her native language with the rest of the manicurists. Im a white woman and do not speak their language but their demeanor was too obvious! Well, not sure what went wrong here since Ive never experienced SO much negative attitude in any nail salon. The crazy part is that the place was almost empty, except for the other woman and me. Conclusion: I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!
