2 /5 Bryan Lee: First of all I do want to apologize for sitting on one of the lounges for sale, as I didn’t know the policy in place of customers not being allowed to sit in them. I am familiar with other stores like Ross or Homegoods allowing us to sit in order to test them. My friend was still shopping and I was finished shopping and a bit tired so I had decided to sit down, so again I do apologize Tj Maxx. But what I don’t apologize for is how I was treated for sitting, I in my 21 years of living have never felt so unwelcome and almost discriminated against after I was approached. An elderly lady employee with glasses who looked to be wearing PJ’s approached me and said something along these lines “Hey Up Up! People buy these you know” in the most rude and condescending tone. After that I noticed her and another employee (african american gentleman, but mostly the elderly lady) started to look and almost monitor me as I was walking around the store. Do they think I’m going to steal now since I accidentally sat in a chair? I felt really unwelcome and uncomfortable after that, and almost wanted to drop my items and just leave. Wouldn’t a simple “hey excuse me sir, these chairs aren’t actually meant to be sat in during store hours” have sufficed better? Common customer service is just not that hard. Anyways after that I checked out and the young lady who rung me up was very nice and welcoming and gave me a slight sense of good customer service/feeling of welcoming again, so thanks to her. But overall just garbage and almost inhumane customer service by the pajama elderly lady. Not to sound like a Karen or unnecessarily complain, I never have my whole life until now.
