2 /5 Kristin: I Love Maurices, one of my favorite stores, love their clothes, great customer service! However, I dont know if it is company policy to push employees to pester customers about opening a Maurices credit card, or if they just have one very overzealous employee at the Clovis store who doesnt understand the word NO, but it is so annoying that I have stopped shopping there for the most part.
Its always the same lady, not sure if shes the manager, or just real insistent on monopolizing the cash register, because she seems to never let any of the other 4+ girls use the registers- even when theres a line & several other available employees twiddling their thumbs on the floor.
Last time I was there, she asked if I found everything ok, I said yes, thank you.
She asked if I would be paying with my Maurices card...I said No.
She asked if I have a Maurices credit card. I said no thank you, Im not interested.
Then she continued on with her sales pitch, "you can get 10% off your purchase today if you open a credit card". I again said, no thank you.
She continues on, these are buy one get one 50% off, do you want to pick out another? I said sure thanks, so my daughter picked out another item to fit the sale.
She then asked me if I have a rewards account to which I replied yes, and gave her my info for that.
Then she repeated her credit card sales pitch in a somewhat snarky manner, trying to push it on me again, and started listing some random "benefits" to opening a card with her.
I again said No thank you.
She continued- you can pay it off in store so that you dont incur any interest charges...
Finally I said, look, if I wanted to use a credit card, I would use my American Express, but as a rule, I dont make purchases that I cant afford to pay for in cash... futhermore, this right here, is why I typically dont come in the store anymore!
I buy online, because I dont like being hounded 4 or 5 times when making a purchase to open a credit card that I dont want, or need! Please stop, Ive said NO multiple times now!
(Shes like a Kirby vacuum salesman- they dont take no for an answer, and most people only agree in order to shut them up!)
She finally said ok & finished my transaction.
I felt a tiny bit bad for laying into her about it, but seriously, Maurices, if your employees are not being paid well enough without credit card incentives, you need to make a change in your policies, because this sales woman is running your good customers off! I used to spend a lot more money there, but the hounding ruins the fun of the shopping experience! Id rather go somewhere else that doesnt encourage this behavior!
