Stout Grove Trailhead - Crescent City (CA)

5 /5 Allan Ruyters: My favorite grove in the entire Redwood State/National Park system. Its so clean and tidy, it almost looks like someone comes in at the end of the day and sweeps/cleans up lol. Just immaculate looking, from the deep red redwood straw on the paths, the dense growth of redwood sorrel around the trees, the regal looking redwood trees look so healthy and proud, its just an utterly amazing place! You can also walk down to the Smith River to get some nice open skies and expansive views. Very flat area, easy for all ages and abilities to walk around. I could have spent hours here just enjoying the sounds of nature, it is such a peaceful and relaxing place. The parking lot is small and fills up quickly, so getting there early is advisable.

5 /5 Andrea Giddings: This is a must see, it is one of the most beautiful walks I have ever been on. We visited in May, not very busy, but parking may be an issue during busier times. Allow 1 to 2 hours to walk through the park. Smith River runs along the edge of the grove...also a beautiful view.

5 /5 Ram Jaganatharaja: Very easy and short trail that is apt for all ages. What makes this trail unique and must-do is that it features several fallen redwood giants. You can appreciate the magnanimous tree, even when fallen. My kids enjoyed climbing up and walking carefully on some of the fallen trees. The trail offers some of unique photographing backgrounds in the Redwoods state park. Add it to your itinerary and you will not regret it. Parking is limited and gets filled up easily. Public restrooms are available but dont have high expectations. The stout grove trail is only 0.5 mile long and with extended access to the river, you can make it as 1.5 miles long. Highly recommended!

5 /5 Apisit M Ch.: This trail is a must if you visit this area. The trail is easy to walk and offers breathtaking experience. You will enjoy a bunch of old-grown redwood which are huge and super tall. There are also fallen redwoods which reveal the massive size of the roots. So dont miss this trail!!

5 /5 Michael: First word: busy. The road back to the grove was necessarily narrow. Giant trees everywhere. However people were quite polite, allowing cars to shift side to side. The Grove is only a short loop, two tenths of a mile. An easy hike. Of course monster trees were down and some had young people scaling them. Cool and shady. Worth the trouble to get to it.
