5 /5 alex eecs: One of my favorite museums Ive ever been to. All the exhibits are fascinating, with many hands on interactive portions. Want to climb into a mud wagon and imagine the experience of traveling for 9 hours along a bumpy road? Send a telegram? Drive a streetcar? Or try your hand at an 1800s gambling game? This place has it all. I loved learning about the history of the place I live, where the highways and public transit systems I use daily came from. Or seeing the evolution California license plates, from porcelain plates to how we saved steel during the war. Ive only seen one section so far out of a dozen since Im spending so much time at each exhibit. Admission is cheap, and the building looks beautiful. If you havent been I highly recommend this museum.

4 /5 Yetty: My first time at the San Mateo County History Museum. It depicts the history of the Peninsula from the original Native American inhabitants to today. It helps place local history in context by showing how the story here has influenced the outside world, and how the outside world has influenced it. The cost is $6 but worth it.

5 /5 Yassaman Zand: We couldnt have asked for a more perfect place to host our wedding ceremony than the San Mateo County History Museum! The entire experience was nothing short of magical. The venue itself is stunning, full of character and charm. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful from start to finish. They went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly, and even took beautiful pictures throughout the ceremony, which they kindly shared with us afterward. It truly felt like they were invested in making our day perfect. One of the best touches was the room provided for the bridal party to relax and do last-minute touch-ups. It was such a thoughtful addition and gave us the space we needed to feel calm and collected before walking down the aisle. Overall, the San Mateo County History Museum made our wedding day unforgettable, and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful and memorable venue!

5 /5 JP G: We were tipped off about this. This museum by going to another museum nearby. And wow, this is a great place to spend a drizzly afternoon. Studying local history really opens your eyes and gives you a better appreciation for where you live. Gorgeous architecture and there were several different exhibits so you could always choose one and that is of your interest and stick with it and spend the good amount of time with it. We spent some time in each of them and and could have spent even more time but we had to get going. Lots of restaurants and things to do nearby to and theres a nice plaza outside as well.
