2 /5 Eduardo Cortez: While some of the staff were kind and helpful, I couldn’t ignore how uncoordinated most of them seemed. I visited the ER for extreme dehydration, and I could feel my condition worsening by the hour. My body was struggling, and inside the ER, I could barely coordinate myself, sit upright, or think clearly as my cognition deteriorated rapidly.
I repeatedly voiced concerns about my dehydration, which continued to worsen, yet I was denied water and did not receive IV fluids for several hours. The lack of urgency from the staff was troubling, and I felt that some of the nurses did not take my condition seriously. At one point, a nurse either drew blood or applied an IV but left the tourniquet tightly on my arm for an extended period. I only realized this much later when another nurse discovered it and corrected the mistake.
While I understand that they couldn’t give me water right away, I would have appreciated more concern and attentiveness from the staff. I hold great respect for nurses, having spent time in many hospital environments due to my family’s medical history, but I have never witnessed anything like this before.
I don’t want to place blame on the nursing staff or doctors specifically. Instead, I believe this hospital needs to focus on improving its systems and enforcing stronger ethical standards to ensure better patient care.
