The team felt very in sync and worked well together which is nice to experience when you are having surgery. All staff was clear and informative and checked for my understanding throughout their explanations and asked if I had questions/concerns. Impressed with their dedication and care.
Adventist Health Bakersfield - Bakersfield Skye D: I awoke in the middle of the night with unbearable stomach pain and drove to my usual hospital, Kaiser on Stockdale. The doctors there said they could not take me and sent me to another Kaiser Hospital: was sent by Kaiser Hospitals 2615 Chester Avenue. The nurses and doctors there were kind but overwhelmed. Eventually, many of us gave up our seats to other incoming patients in pain. By that time, it was midnight. So in order to keep our places in line, we sat on the floor of the parking lot. All of the other patients were very kind. Despite the pain. Eventually the sun came up and seeing a drug store in the distance, several of us walked there, purchased pain killers and went our separate ways, never having seen a doctor. Several weeks later, I received a bill for over a thousand dollars from something called Adventist Hospital. I complained that I had been to Kaiser, not Adventist, and had never been to anything called Adventist. I drove back to the second hospital, drove to the back side of the building and, indeed, saw that Kaiser had sent me to an Adventist Hospital without any notice. Because I was in so much pain, Adventist doctors never told me that I was at a different hospital. I never received any care from Kaiser or Adventist. Neither has any proof that they cared for me. But they want over a grand. Who knows how much the double teaming raked in for the night. They billed me for over two grand for sitting in my car in the parking. Now, Kaiser is billing me again. If nothing else, the two hospitals should give the money to the friends of patients who sat on the Adventist parking lot floor, try to keep us laughing at bad jokes to distract us from the pain. Even though I for one did not that what turned to be a two grand each joke on us was funny.
Dignity Health - Mercy Hospital Southwest - Bakersfield Marlen Ruiz: This hospital used to be one of my favorite hospitals to go to but after last night they became the most ignorant hospital ever. I took my son into the emergency room because he has been sick for the past week. The physician that seen him, Cu Sharon, told me he was going to send over the antibiotics to the pharmacy so my son could take them. Only to find out that they never sent the referral and after calling them about the referral, they told me that I have to use the same antibiotics I apparently have from 2 months ago when he got sick. He took all of the antibiotics. What’s makes them think I still have left over antibiotics now? This hospital is a joke and because of them my son is not improving with Tylenol, saline drops or the humidifier.
Kern Medical Hospital - Bakersfield Johny Cage: It is a good hospital to have your new baby born, I give it 2 starts because of the waiting time is ridiculous, I took my baby for a bleeding in his pop and we wait one hour to be registered and another hour to check his virales, then they took us with another infants to a different room and we wait another hour and half and I believe it was only one pediatrician to see all the infants one at the time, me and my wife decided to leave the place because no one was communicating anything about the waiting period and we where getting so frustrated especially our baby boy. We took like a whole 3+ hours waiting and idk how long they would have take for them to call us to see what was going on with our baby. We end up going to a different hospital and we only wait couple hours for the whole process. But I wouldn’t recommend this hospital for any type of emergencies.
Dignity Health - Memorial Hospital - Bakersfield Ben Durham: I recently used the ER department, I was promptly seen by a nurse, who quickly accessed my condition. Sent me to have blood drawn and X-rays taken. I was seen my a emergency room doctor and treated quickly and monitored till they decided it was not life threatening and I had stabilized. I was released within 6 hours and drove myself home. Provided a list of things to discuss with my doctor. Very happy with the level of services I received.
Kern Medical - Bakersfield Collaboration: I recently visited Kern Medical and, unfortunately, had an unpleasant experience at the reception desk. The receptionist, who had golden hair, displayed unprofessional and unwelcoming behavior. She was not helpful and failed to provide clear or adequate information regarding my visit.
As the first point of contact for patients, receptionists play a crucial role in creating a positive experience, and this encounter left a lot to be desired. I hope the hospital management addresses these issues to ensure patients feel respected and supported upon arrival.
Good Samaritan Hospital-Bakersfield - Bakersfield Tanveer Dahiya: I want to express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional care provided by Dr. Singh, Romona, the dedicated nursing team, vigilant case managers, and the 24x7 available psychiatrist at Good Samaritan hospital. My friend underwent medical detox treatment here, and the experience was truly remarkable.
The level of availability and promptness displayed by the medical staff is commendable. Every detail, no matter how small, was handled with utmost attention, reflecting a commitment to comprehensive and patient-centered care.
Its worth noting that Good Samaritan hospital stands out as the sole facility in the county offering such vital services, making a substantial difference in the ongoing battle against the addiction epidemic. The impact of their efforts is nothing short of impressive, and I am grateful for the dedicated professionals who played a role in my friends treatment journey.
Adventist Health Bakersfield Emergency Room Entrance - Bakersfield Franberry: I had an incredibly frustrating experience at this facility. I came in with severe double vision and was discharged without any scans being recommended or performed. Instead, I was referred to an ophthalmologist who does not accept my insurance, leaving me without proper follow-up care.
When I informed the hospital the same day that the referral wasn’t covered, I was told I could return for scans—but that I would have to pay for another full ER visit, despite this being a continuation of the same issue. In other words, I was sent home without proper testing, given an unusable referral, and then expected to pay again just to get the care I should have received in the first place.
This is completely unacceptable. A patient with severe double vision should not be discharged without proper imaging or an appropriate referral. Patients deserve thorough evaluations and referrals that actually lead to treatment, not dead ends and unnecessary extra charges. This experience was a complete failure in patient care.
