5 /5 Judith Zyskowski: The museum was a pleasant surprise break in Ukiah,the Sun house did not have a curator available at the time to explore inside,but the back to the land exhibit in the museum was trippy and the Grace Hudson collection was exquisite. How she was able to catch the energy of the subjects,mostly Pomo People was mesmerizing. The gift shop sold amazing craft works from current local artists,some of which were featured in the traveling back to the land exhibit.

5 /5 Kara Yermukan: I visited the Museum on Wednesday, January 29th. Almost didnt get a tour of the Sun House, but through kindness of Alyssa had a chance to get immersed in the atmosphere where Grace lived and created. The grounds are well kept and very spiritual, and the gallery has the most amazing art piece, the central of which is, of course, The Nattional Thorn. I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning about the native people of Northern California through the eyes of a compassionate to their plight individual.

So fun to peep out the windows at all the peacocks wandering about. Beautiful, serene, and vibrant. Lovely landscaping and beautiful spirit. Thanks!

Montgomery Woods State Natural Reserve - Ukiah

Marc A. Tager: I’ve hiked a lot of places, but Montgomery Woods has this kind of ancient, mossy magic that hits different. The moment I stepped onto the trail, I felt like I had entered a secret redwood cathedral quiet, cool, and full of wild energy. These trees are seriously old. Like… older than most countries old. And they’re still standing tall and majestic like Earth’s original guardians. The hike itself is peaceful, not too strenuous, and full of little surprises twisty roots, spring flowers, and that filtered sunlight that makes everything look straight out of a fairy tale. I even spotted a banana slug just vibing in its own little world. Respect. I brought some water, took my time, and just soaked in the stillness. There’s something deeply grounding about this place. It makes you want to whisper and walk slower. I didn’t expect to get emotional in a forest, but here we are. If you’re looking to reconnect with nature, slow your roll, and breathe some real-deal fresh air, Montgomery Woods delivers. Just don’t rush it this place deserves your full attention. Five stars from me. Can’t wait to come back and bring someone I care about.

Dusty Schultz: Mendo Rock gives you an awesome 360 degree view of Lake and Mendocino counties. You can easily see Ukiah and Clearlake. You can hike or drive to this spot. The hike is no joke and neither is the road. High clearance vehicles are a must.

Merced Multicultural Arts Center - Merced

Rudy N: Attended an event being hosted here and just loved the multiple gallery areas even though I didnt get to tour the entire place. Relaxing and learning environment with lots to offer. Hope to return soon to experience what I missed and maybe partake in another event.

Merced County Courthouse Museum - Merced

H Meza: This is such a wonderful place to visit. A rare glimpse in the past in the city of Merced. Its so very well kept and treasured by the wonderful people at the museum. As a Girl Scout leader, we were honored to put our Christmas tree up during their Christmas tree display. This gave us the opportunity to look around at the courthouse in a way I have not taken the time to do before, and Im so glad we did. The kids were fascinated by the things they saw. We definitely encourage you to take a few minutes out of your day and appreciate the history of Merced.

Merceds Applegate Park Zoo - Merced

Elena Marques: Very quiet zoo. There are a couple of animals. Perfect for younger kids. There is a lot of shade as you walk around. The zoo has name plaques for the animals and fun facts as well. My kids always enjoy coming here. Their favorite animals are the racoons.

Lake Yosemite County Park - Merced

Fernanda!: I always like coming here very nice. Good for family picnic and if you want to go swimming. Very relaxing. At the front there’s like a small shed where you have to pay but honestly every time that I come no one is there so it’s free. Always like coming here to hangout with friends :)

Merced National Wildlife Refuge - Merced

Doug Hoppe: This place is amazing particular when the snow geese and sandhill cranes are migrating to it usually between December and February. Many types of birds can be seen here. Rabbits and coyotes can also be spotted roaming the area. The five mile auto tour dirt road is in good shape so traveling through the reserve. The best time for birding and scenery is usually around sunrise and sunset (unless it is covered by fog). I find that first going to the San Luis Wildlife Refuge which is about a half hour away is beneficial as they have a nice fish and game visitors center and a ranger stationed there to answer questions. It’s not common to see a ranger at the Merced refuge unless you have a tour scheduled.

Katy Baker: Was very dirty with trash on the ground. It was a nice day and I was a bit uncomfortable by the old guys hanging out there plus someone who looks like he might be homeless.
