It can be tough at times to feel fulfilled in a place where it is easy to get wrapped up in work/school. The congregation is incredibly welcoming and supportive, and the leadership do a great job “getting out of the way” for everyone to form/develop their own relationship with God. Overall, this church is filled with very understanding and knowledgeable people. And as mentioned at each service, “You are welcome wherever you are on your spiritual journey.” I also highly recommend taking the Alpha group course which is specifically designed for for people with questions about Christianity or faith in general.

5 /5 Jojo Huang: I love current! The community is so strong and everyone is so welcoming. The staff is so intentional about their outreach and they make sure to create a space that encourages biblical fellowship and growth. Davids sermons are meaningful and theologically sound and he always manages to make the message applicable but not too contemporary as to take away the original context and meaning. Definitely come and visit on a Sunday and take advantage of the free visitor lunches!

5 /5 J L: A well organized church with kind people Was at the Computer Science Museum for Fathers Day and stumbled across them thinking it was more museum. Very family friendly, they gave my kids treats and had lots of youth services

The people are a supportive group organized into homegroups that care for the people of the church. There is an emphasis on practical outreach as well as global missions. The hard issues are talked about and wrestled with both in sermons and in small groups. The sermons and structure are actively centered around scripture. The elder led, multiple teaching pastors approach brings healthy balance. I could probably say more but suffice to say, I would highly recommend checking it out.

Luke Scott: My wife and I attended Calvary this morning while in Santa Barbara on vacation. We decided to try it out because it was one of the local churches listed on the 9Marks church directory. Several church members warmly greeted us when we arrived. Music style was a mix of hymns and contemporary praise, all very singable and not showy. Pastor Michael’s expository preaching was engaging and edifying. I would highly recommend Calvary Baptist Church to anyone who is visiting the area or looking for a home church.
