The sermons are insightful, and relevant sermon content, great community and Bible study options. Jon Ireland is also a strong public speaker, so he’s easy to listen to and engaging. Accepting of ALL “No perfect people allowed.”

5 /5 Emily Flinn: Oceanhills is a fantastic church in Santa Barbara, our family has attended for around 6 years. The worship music is amazing with a team full of incredibly talented musicians. The teaching is dynamic and often has ways for us to respond whether in the service or throughout the week. One of our favorite parts of being involved in this church has been the life groups. There are tons of options of life groups to join for whatever you may be looking for— both in terms of types of people in the group, content, day/time etc. The children’s ministry program is incredible and is a place kids are excited to come to each week. Can’t recommend this church enough if you’re looking for a church family to call home. It is a loving community passionate about walking with and being changed by Jesus day by day.

1 /5 Sage Maas: The Pastors and Leadership team (elders) took a vote before I started serving - if, as a transgender woman, I could help. They decided that I could and I had a blessed and wonderful time! Until suddenly and without warning, I was told that they changed their minds and decided that I am not welcome. Its one thing to be excluded completely, its even worse that I was welcomed, made community and friends, and then was kicked out PLEASE BE CAREFUL GOING TO THIS CHURCH IF YOU ARE LGBTQ+

5 /5 Kristin Riley: I have found this church really welcoming and warm and as others said people are laid back but the sermons insightful. Thank you for serving the community and if I find myself back in SB full time I know where I will call my church family. For now look forward to visiting again.

Rhonda DuPar: Churches are like doctors, what is a good fit for one person is not a great for for another--but this is my church home and I love it. Why you ask? I would be glad to tell you. The people are a supportive group organized into homegroups that care for the people of the church. There is an emphasis on practical outreach as well as global missions. The hard issues are talked about and wrestled with both in sermons and in small groups. The sermons and structure are actively centered around scripture. The elder led, multiple teaching pastors approach brings healthy balance. I could probably say more but suffice to say, I would highly recommend checking it out.

Luke Scott: My wife and I attended Calvary this morning while in Santa Barbara on vacation. We decided to try it out because it was one of the local churches listed on the 9Marks church directory. Several church members warmly greeted us when we arrived. Music style was a mix of hymns and contemporary praise, all very singable and not showy. Pastor Michael’s expository preaching was engaging and edifying. I would highly recommend Calvary Baptist Church to anyone who is visiting the area or looking for a home church.

Jason B. de Leon: Beautiful Place to Visit, Today it was closed but there is an early AM Mass. Although my wife and I didn’t get to marvel and enjoy on the inside, the exterior was just as beautiful.
