06-2025 Crocker Art Museum in Hight rate 13 location for tourist in Sacramento, CA (part 3)Sutters Fort State Historic Park - Sacramento Kristen Horwith: If given the opportunity, I would highly recommend visiting the fort with a school on a field trip. It gives you an entirely different experience from the self-guided tour. This is something I did in school 30 years ago, and was also just able to experience with my daughter and her class. Its run by 4 or so state park employees, and then for field trips, the parent volunteers run the stations. This gives the kids a chance to make candles, rope, leather stamping, bake in a stone oven, churn butter, and more.
California Museum - Sacramento Sheena Sheena: This was activity to do with my son on the weekend. For those who very small budget or low income, they give discounts as low as $2 for the entry fee. This place full of information and interactive things. There’s also activities for kids and adult adults. My 11 year-old enjoyed going with me and reading about Pearl Harbor the women in history and also about all the displays of objects from the past.
Underground Tours - Sacramento Sara Beth Ford: My spouse and I had so much fun on the Sacramento tour a week ago! Im just getting to post about it now. Our guide was Madame Anne Seymour, in character from the 1800s the whole time. We loved hearing all the salacious and wild stories of the early days of Sacramento and seeing the old buildings. It was a fun way to spend an evening and learn a bit in the process. I definitely recommend it!
Sacramento History Museum - Sacramento Bruce S.: The Sacramento History Museum has so much information about the rich history of this area that more than one visit is recommended. There is something for everyone, from children to grandparents. Learn about the formation of the Capital City, view a kitchen from the 1920s, and learn about the historic fires that have happened in the Golden State. There is also an exhibit about the earthquake of 1906 in San Francisco and an enormous amount of data from the formation of Sacramento, to the raising of Sacramentos buildings following the Great Flood of 1862, to the Gold Rush era, which brought many miners and their families to Northern California in search of riches. There is so much more to offer in this incredible museum and we highly recommend a visit to anyone interested in learning about the history of Sacramento and Northern California.
Tower Bridge - Avanish Vyas: A must-visit spot! The historic Tower Bridge is truly impressive and full of character. Its a great place to take photos—plenty of scenic angles with the bridge and surrounding views. The river adds to the charm, offering a peaceful and picturesque backdrop. We even spotted a seal swimming near the edge, which was such a cool surprise! Whether youre into history, photography, or just want a relaxing stroll by the water, this place has something for everyone. It’s a beautiful blend of architecture and nature. Definitely worth the stop if youre in the area!
California State Capitol Park - Sacramento Ekaterina Machneva: One of Sacramento’s most beautiful parks with hundreds of trees: redwoods, giant sequoia, magnolias, orange trees, and palms.. Excellent photo opportunities with the Capitol. The World Peace Rose Garden is so fragrant with benches to relax and enjoy the surroundings. I also liked the cactus garden.
Parking is along the street, and restroom in the middle of the park. Note: There was ongoing construction around the Capitol.
Stanford Mansion - Sacramento Ram Dongre: Went here on a free museum day. A well kept part of California history. Great that the mansion was used as a girls orphanage for nearly 85 years. It was built by one of the richest person in America in those days and also a governor. It has clean restrooms, paid street side parking and can buy tickets onsite too. One thing I observed that the mansion in terms of elegance and luxury was not as good as others I saw in Oregon and Vancouer; bit surprising to me. No photography is allowed inside.
Fairytale Town - Sacramento Kathy Gillan: Went here as a child, took my daughter when she was little and NOW I take my granddaughter for her 4th birthday party. LOVE this for the little ones here. Early bird gets the worm, come here early they play like crazy.
William Land Regional Park - Sacramento Ekaterina Machneva: Tree-filled city park with a golf course, ponds full of geese, and barbecue areas with tables. I enjoyed walking in the shade along 13th Avenue, which has nice architecture homes. Nearby attractions: Zoo, Fairytale Town.
