Unfortunately, I just got off the phone with someone calling regarding an appointment, and my experience was very unpleasant…
The woman on the phone slightly aggressively told me that I didn’t show up to my appointment today. I explained to her that someone called a few days ago to reschedule my ultrasound appointment. I spoke with two different women because this was very difficult for us to make time with our work schedules on such late notice, but we were able to reschedule for next week. Neither of the two women I spoke to said that I was still supposed to come in for an OB appointment. Only that my appointment needed to be rescheduled. The woman I spoke to today was being so rude saying that the doctor was here today, and I was still supposed to show up. I didn’t know what to tell her other than “I’m sorry but none of that was made clear to me.” It sounded as if she was getting defensive and said she was calling to make sure I was still gonna show up to my two appointments next week, that I must’ve misunderstood. How am I supposed to know to still come in to my appointment if they said they were calling to reschedule?
There was another time we came in for our OB appointment, early. The doctor was running so late that it made us late to work. We had to leave without scheduling our next appointment at the desk, and NOBODY called to follow up or apologize. Eventually, I had to follow up because I was concerned that they hadn’t. They said something about how I needed to make the appointment sooner to be seen more frequently. Is that my fault? I honestly don’t know.
Both my partner and I teach music lessons to kids by appointment, back to back and sometimes with no breaks. We understand how it can be, ESPECIALLY when things run late and/or when people don’t show up...
This is my first pregnancy, and I’m still learning how everything works, I even feel stupid at times because I don’t know EVERYTHING. I don’t just assume things, and I ask questions when I’m confused. However, I was not confused about the way I was communicated to regarding my appointment needing to be rescheduled. With that being said, I always try to show up on time, if not EARLY to my appointments. I’m going to keep the rest of my appointments at this location because I’m so far along now, but I must say that I’m very disappointed with the way I was just spoken to today.
