2 /5 Xiao Forrest: I came in for a sore throat which I thought could be strep (which I had recently and the symptoms feel the same). Ive been here for 1.5 hour and they do a strep test, no covid or mono tests, and dont give me Tylenol nor ibuprofen for my throat pain. Which if I was a doctor that would be the first thing I would do.
Theres almost no one here, just by the way. So its not like theyre under staffed.
I flagged down a different nurse and asked if they could get help for me and after 15 minutes waiting, nothing.
I just rang the emergency button to get some help and the lady came in and said nothing and turned it off. So I asked her as she walked out can I please have some Tylenol and ibuprofen for my throat since its been more than an hour since I got here and havent had my symptoms treated. And she just walked out without saying anything, not even a nod that she understood me.
10 minutes later the nurse comes back and says "strep test was negative, so its just a normal sore throat so you can leave. Oh I didnt know you needed pain meds for your pain, the doctor is ordering that right now." Its been 20 minutes since that happened and no word.
Last time I went to the ER back in my hometown, they gave me steroids to help with swelling and pain and the doctor is saying is "not necessary since youre not in much pain."
Why dont you ask me how much pain Im in...? I cant swallow water or food.
EDIT: He agreed to give me oral steroids after doing research on it.
Needless to say this place has some kinks to work out in their bedside manner and their coordination with patients.
