S. Shawn “SirDaddySmackemz” Guys in the back were very nice and helpful. I had to call the office for updates. The owner did call me to ask if I was ok and to inform me my car was going to be totaled. That was very nice of him.

S. Chan My front bumper got damaged. The staff was very friendly and professional. The bumper was fixed in 2 weeks. Not only did the bumper looked better, But the dashboard of my car was clean! It was definitely wonderful of them to do that!

Conner DeKnikker My dad was interested in having the roof and potentially the hood of his 1989 F-150 painted. Was told by the estimator that they wont paint any vehicles over 20 years old. What is so different about painting a 2004 vehicle versus a 2005? Nobody is talking about oil based paints. They refused to do business with him despite serving him in the past. He also has a Datsun 280Z, a Ford Thunderbird, and a Cadillac Series 62 which he will have painted in the near future. A business which declines customers is a poor business. Pricing is also very fair and reasonable, labor costs are relative to complexity of work done and parts are fairly priced. No problems arose after receiving vehicle back and they also include a curtesy inspection. Overall very professional and helpful to my vehicles needs. Will certainly be coming back in the future for repairs.

Jimenez Callum After someone broke into my car and shattered the rear window, I was stressed out trying to find someone who could fix it fast. I reached out and they got back to me right away with a quote and scheduled me for the next afternoon. The technician showed up on time and explained the whole rear window replacement process. It took less than two hours, and they vacuumed out all the glass pieces and double checked the seal to make sure there wouldn’t be any leaks. You could tell they cared about doing a clean job. The pricing was fair and the customer service was great from beginning to end. Hopefully I won’t need auto glass repair again anytime soon, but if I do, I know who to call.

Chris, the owner, is good at communication and will call you to share exactly what is wrong as well as provide estimates for repair. Their turnaround around time for repair is pretty quick and they provide rentals while your car is in the shop which is very helpful.

Monique Cardenas I have had my fair share of mechanics dealing with the maintenance with a foreign car but I will say University Imports Automotive have been the BEST. Chris the owner not only explains in detail what is needed to be done for your visit but also lets you know what needs to be done in the future. Daniel Wright I’ve been coming to SpeeDee Midas in Davis for over a decade now, and I’ve never had anything but great service. The owner—I’m pretty sure it’s a husband and wife team, but I usually deal with her in front—she’s fantastic. She’s always in such a good mood. I typically just come here for oil changes, as I get other maintenance done elsewhere, but SpeeDee is my go-to spot. I always use the coupon codes from their website. Just today, after all these years, I discovered they have a nice wooden picnic table in the back. If you don’t want to wait inside or near the office, you can head out there and enjoy the fresh air.

Fizza Usmani Wonderful experience! Teresa at the front desk was super nice, and Randy, the one who worked on my car, gets 10/10 from me. He was very helpful and informative about anything that needed to be changed/fixed. The oil change was done quickly too, and they clean your windshields and your vacuum the carpets from inside as well. All in all, great place, highly recommended. Randy - thank you so much! Sorry I couldn’t say that in person before leaving.

Electric Butterfly I love these guys! Old school, honest mechanics which is extremely RARE. Always friendly, quick, and proficient. Some other comments mention being treated badly based on appearance but as a POC, Ive never had an issue. They are usually able to fit me in same day, and they get the job done quickly.

Wesley I would recommend Advance Auto Repair and Towing to anyone who need their vehicle serviced or smog. Kevin is a great mechanic and a honest man! I bought a vehicle for my dad but the vehicle wasn’t smogged. So before heading to DMV by 9am, I stopped by Advance Auto Repair at 7:30am. They don’t start their service until 8am but David was super kind and helpful which we got the paper work all finished. Kevin smogged my vehicle and then did some observation of the vehicle. For $500, the vehicle was in great shape and passed smog! I was in and out and made it to DMV 30 minutes early which it only took me 15 minutes to register the car. Overall, I would recommend Advanced Auto Repair and Towing to anyone in need of car help. ^.^

Samantha Blunt When my car began overheating, I panicked -- Im a college student away from home, and my dad... he called this shop for me to see if they could look at my car while it was leaking coolant and they got me in the next day. The next go around, when my car started to overheat on a trip, I brought it into the shop again knowing the great service I received the first time. Zach listened to me carefully about the issues my car was having, and thoroughly inspected it. They even kept it overnight free of charge to double and triple check they were sure about the issues it was having. Though I received the news that my poor Jetta has reached its life expectancy, every step of the way the mechanics here made me feel heard. Thank you Kevin and Zach!

Kelsey Waters Absolutely horrible attention to detail. My car had front end damage from a tire tread hitting it on the freeway. Bumper cover was shattered, fender had a paint flaking off, and inner fender was destroyed. After the initial repair, the bumper fit terribly, the paint flaking on the fender was still there, and the seal that was between the bumper and hood was missing. I pointed this out to them and they assured me that it would be fixed. Upon picking up the second time, the bumper fit had improved, but the seal was still missing and the fender was installed with the paint still wet (or if painted in place, the bumper was installed with fender still wet), which caused the paint on the lower edge to smudge and smear upon contact with the reflector in the bumper cover. I called and left a voicemail upon pickup (after hours), letting them know that they still had not addressed the issues, and that they wont be seeing me again. Will be taking to another shop to complete the work.

Zaki 2 Dunya Did very little to work with my insurance to schedule the repairs and the back and forth went on for months. The finalized it after my insurance had to send lengthy emails. Repairs had to be scheduled four months after approval. They said the repair for a quarter panel would take a few weeks and they keep pushing back the estimated due date and are not consistent with updates whatsoever. Havent had my car for over a month now. My roommate has had a similar experience. Only reason I chose them was because they were close by. I feel bad for any students or working class people that choose them and expect good service. Will never recommend or use them again. Very disappointed.

Sal and his staff were fully transparent in recommending only the necessary service options, and the price was very reasonable. They are also efficient; I was a walk-in, and full service took only about 3 hours from dropping off the car. Finally they are friendly and will make sure you are fully satisfied with your experience. I will be returning and fully recommend.

I’ve visited multiple times for tire patching, and on several occasions, they’ve done small repairs or helped me with things free of charge. They consistently offer honest advice—even stepping in to tell me when I didn’t actually need a new tire—saving me money and stress. Just recently, I found a tear in one of my tires and had to tow my car to their shop. Based on my past experiences, I knew I was in good hands. The owner personally gave me a ride home, which was such a thoughtful gesture. Two hours later, my car was done, the price was far more reasonable than expected, and the quality of work was impeccable. It’s clear they genuinely care about their customers. Logan Kingsland I took my 05 Nissan Xterra to Vanderhamm because there was a grinding noise coming from the front end whenever I took sharp corners. The mechanic, Collin, noticed my front hubs had some play and had damaged my rotors. We replaced both, but the grinding noise did not disappear, so I took it back, and Collin realized it was actually just the traction control motor kicking in. My shocks were so worn out (190k miles) that when taking sharp turns, the wheels couldnt track properly and they would trigger the TC. I expressed to Danny, the manager, that I felt kinda sour about spending all that money without fixing the issue. He comped the whole invoice—parts and labor. There was no hassle, no arguing, they just printed me a check and sent me on my way. A case could be made that I needed those hubs and rotors anyways, but Danny didn’t split hairs, he just made sure we could both feel good about the transaction, and I really respect the way he handled the situation. Collin also drives an Xterra, and he let me pick his brain about specific repairs/upgrades I might want to make in the future. Blaine at the front desk was super friendly and helpful throughout this whole process, and while I was in the shop, I got to see him treat other customers the same way. He was jovial, respectful, and knowledgeable. My experience with Vanderhamm throughout this process has been so good I decided to replace some other worn-out front-end parts and get new tires there as well. My Xterra drives whisper quiet and buttery smooth now! Moving forward, I will be going there for rotations and maintenance and I cannot recommend them enough!

Randi Pechacek Absolutely great shop. I was so scared to trust someone other than my family to work on my car after moving so far away from home. But this shop made me feel like I was taking my car to my family. They talk to me with respect, casually, and explain anything I need clarification on. I have asked the dumbest questions and they never make me feel silly for asking. They will also elaborate and provide me some education that I need about how my car functions. They call me to ask permission to complete the work they deem necessary after evaluating my car, with the cost of work included. They will even keep the car for observation sometimes, just to make sure it’s functioning correctly. I couldn’t ask for a better place to take my car to and I will take it here for as long as I live in the area. I love these guys.

luis Guillen Took my car for brake and light inspection 260.00 car failed because of windshield fluid out and plate light bulb out. This place refused to do the retest on these easy items he wanted 260.00 again for this. He didnt notify us that if it failed we would be charged again. This is how they stick it to you so avoid this place for their lack of information they give you.

Suman Paudel John is very nice and very trustworthy…he will give you the costs and time of maintenance before you hand him over your keys…we are locals at Davis so if i have some maintenance issues. I call him from where I work (not far from his workplace)and he just come pick my car up and bring it back after he is done at my work, you don’t have to take a day off or miss your work …Love the service and his kindness…Thank you John.
