3 /5 Kevin Marts: Honest review by a BBQ lover.
I came here for lunch at 12pm and got the brisket, pulled pork and pork ribs. I get to BBQ places early in case they sell out of what I want. There was no line, and only a handful of people on a Saturday.
Staff were awesome. Very attentive, very nice, great people.
Did I eat it all... Yes. Was it good, yes.
But I was looking for a Texas style BBQ experience, and this was not it.
The brisket was good, not great. A little dryer than desired. A little firmer than you would expect from professional. The bark was not noticeable. A common theme.
The pulled pork was much dryer than it should be and the smoke flavor was not present. There was no bark.
The pork ribs had no bark as well, much firmer than desired.
Im sure the meat would be much better as a sandwich. That seems to be the #1 seller there.
The good stuff was the Mac and cheese which was great. The BBQ sauces were fantastic! Each one has a different flavor. Its a good thing The sauces are so good because they are necessary to accompany the meat. My expectation on great bbq would be not needing the sauce to be flavorful.
The corn bread was also well done. No nonsense corn bread is my preference.
