Miyako Japanese Restaurant - Hollister (CA)

5 /5 Diana Chow: The food was good. The service was needing improvement. The guy that was our waiter was just playing on his phone or talking to the girl that works there. Our drinks needed filling and we literally needed to wavy him down several times. And took him forever to give us our check after we were done.

5 /5 carl cerbolles: Great time dining with my family of 9. It wasnt too packed for a Saturday at 6 pm, so our food started to come out about 20 mins after we ordered. Everything tasted amazing. I read other reviews about portion size, but i dont think people realize that in Japan, this is the normal portion size. The sauces werent drowning the rolls. Id say it was the perfect amount. Kids friendly space and parking is available front and back of the building. What we ordered APPITIZERS-Mix tempura, aji fry, fried octopus, baked mussels, and soft shell crab. I would recommend them all - my personal favorite was soft shell crab appetizer!! ROLLS - catapillar, lobster roll, lemon drop roll, spider, crunchy, california, lion king, and sal skin roll - All rolls were fantastic. My personal favorite was lemon drop roll Salmon kama- yummy Tokyo Hamachi- DELICIOUS DESSERT - deep fried ice cream and fried banana Loved them both! Friendly staff and atmosphere. I will be coming back soon! Love supporting the small guys, especially in a growing town. Wish I took pictures but the next visit I will take some!

3 /5 Alondrina: Sushi was very good, we got the caterpillar and lion king. We also got a rice bowl but the meat had too much fat (pork meat) don’t recommend. Each sushi roll has $20+. Service was not great at all. We had ordered some appetizers and they were never brought to the table. They had about 2 other tables when we went in and wait was more than it needed to be. At the end the waiter left with out saying anything and didn’t finish our service. We had to go up front and ask for the check and they were charging us for the appetizers. Overall, I give this place a 6/10 for bad customer service.

2 /5 Alex Vancomerbeck: Not too many Japanese options in Hollister but sadly this is not a great option regardless. Sushi didnt taste very fresh but they are charging pretty high price for it and waitress did seem pretty grumpy. Would not come back.
