4 /5 Barry Hashimoto: Main Street Pizza & Tap is one of the few true lifelines on the eastern Sierra corridor—open until 10 p.m., reliably serving real food after long drives or longer descents. If you’re coming off trail northbound from the high country, this is where you stop. The location is dead center in Mammoth, right across from the Motel 6 and near convenience stores of all stripe. Inside, it’s loud, casual, a bit chaotic—arcade games humming, shuffleboard clacking, paper towels on the tables, bathrooms clean. The pizza is the reason to come: fantastic crust, well‑balanced toppings, and clearly hand‑made. It’s expensive—a large make‑your‑own will run you close to $40—but you’re not here for value. You’re here because you’re tired, hungry, and you want the best pizza between Tahoe and Bishop. Skip the wings: the chicken’s not great and the sauce doesn’t redeem it. The beer list is deep, sourced from east side breweries, and if you’ve got a couple hours to linger, it’s worth your time. Otherwise, grab your pie in a box and be on your way.
