4 /5 Nancy Williams: For a very old hotel located, Hotel Niles is remarkably well kept. Our room was not luxurious by any means, but it had the more important features of being spacious, clean, quiet, and comfortable.
The front desk clerk was very thoughtful, mentioning that he selected our room so that in case any noise came the bar on the first floor we wouldnt be disturbed. It was indeed very quiet, although when we walked by the bar seemed pretty quiet, so maybe we could have stayed in any room without noise issues.
The fact that Hotel Niles has an EV charger allowed us to take the most direct driving route between Reno and Hood River, Oregon. We really appreciated that! It is a relatively fast one and our battery was back to 100% by morning. Without the charger, we would have had to take a different route because there are no other chargers for many miles along that one.
Although there doesnt seem to be much to do in Alturas (although we were just passing through, so we didnt really look for activities), if we ever find ourselves traveling through there again, well not hesitate to stay here again.
