3 /5 Kevin Bringman: What I like most about this location is Luke. He’s a super friendly and approachable guy that is very knowledgeable about creating an effective routine and pinpointing strengths and weaknesses, where improvement is needed, and how to achieve practical workable goals. Very encouraging. I like that classes are offered even though I haven’t enrolled in one yet. Only outside pool in LA is my understanding. Nice sauna, a little cramped at times. Sauna is relaxing, jets are working really well. Locker room is a respectable size, plenty of sinks and showers and whatnot. Lockers are decent sized, but generally unremarkable.
This place takes a couple of dings for a few reasons:
They do not have the arc trainer I prefer like Equinox and Planet Fitness. Some of the equipment looks like it has been neglected and may need maintenance. Although they have a wider variety than the above-mentioned, so that’s nice.
The members are typical couched LA types, very smug, selfish, inconsiderate, and entitled. Literally the most entitled folks (entitlement that transcends race, gender, etc.) in the country are in LA, but I think that’s just the culture here. I’m speaking as someone from the south that lived in NYC for 10 years. Maybe that perspective will change as I continue going here, but I doubt it. A lot of toxic traits from members that folks like me are just not interested in entertaining.
Otherwise, it’s a good spot. Staff is friendly and helpful. They keep it clean. It’s not aesthetically pleasing as Equinox, generally, but not as trashy as most of the PFs I’ve been to in the area.
