Saddly we have had a horrible experience with Shani. My ex husband and I went in to file our taxes separately for the first time and upon filling everything out she let us know there was an issue with mine but would contact the IRS, after trying to contact her for about 4 weeks and having to have the person who referred me to her email her on my behalf, she finally got back with me and let me know that the IRS said my SS number had already been used (identity theft) so she then instructed me to fill out an identity theft form with the IRS and mail in my return instead. Upon picking up the forms and packaging them to mail, at a quick glance I immediately saw the problem, my identity had not been stollen, she had tried filling both of our taxes with my ex husbands SS number and birth day. I had someone amend my tax forms and set them straight and requested a refund from Shani as it is now 5 months later and I have still not received my refund. After weeks of slow communication with Shani, she let me know she mailed a refund check which must have not been true because after 3 weeks of not receiving anything in the mail because she would not give me the refund in person, I let her know that the check never came but she refused to cancel the check and write me a knew one until the original was returned. She has since ghosted me. And I’ve decided just to eat that $450 and leave this review to warn others. After speaking with others in the community I have learned I am not the first to have issues with this buisness. :( just a few snippets of the emails towards the end. Extremely unprofessional.
In response to her comment, I had no clue her father passed away. I was always patient and calm, and somehow always received attitude in response. The whole process with Shani before I finally moved on with a new accountant took from April 15th to June 28th. I think it was pretty valid at that point to move forward with someone else… I could not even reach her for weeks to after originally filing to figure out what was wrong and when I finally figured it out I had to convince her to believe me. I decided to move forward with someone else because she had been so rude and at that point, I did not want to work with her any longer. At this point I have had to pay to have my taxes done twice. She also did not give us a referral discount but a multiple return discount. The woman she is referring to in her response did not refer me. She did finally give me a refund check yesterday, but unfortunately she decided to follow suit and only refund $125 of what she owed me I attached a photo of her note explaining why she did so and honestly none of it makes sense. My ex husband did not pay for any of it, in fact I paid the $5,000 that he owed the irs and the $450 that we owed shani, not that any of that really matters. All this to say, I’m really disappointed in this experience. I am a single mother of three children, and I have been waiting on this tax return for 5 months now because of all of this. I hope this review helps someone else avoid this horrible situation.
It continues to get worse, after updating my review with the screen shots showing our communication and how unprofessional and rude she was, she sent me an email and I will share the picture below. She subjected it: looking for a lawyer.
This woman is now trying to intimidate me into deleting my review and my screenshots by threatening to sue me. Since she continues to harass me, I have now reported her to the Better Business Bureau and she tries to lie about the situation, even though I have showed them screenshots of proof of everything. Please if you consider this business run the other direction. I think it is comical that she threatens to sue me over something that she can’t even win, but it’s been more money in the process than it would’ve costed just a refund me the correct amount. At this point, I do not care about the money. I would just like her to stop harassing me.
