2 /5 JJ Garcia: On 8/10/25, I brought in my pair of earrings but explained that only one post needed repair because its screw back was loose due to the post being stripped. I showed this to the employee Emery and was quoted $45 since I already had my screw backs. On 8/14/25, I called for an update and was told the price went up because they replaced both posts and added new screw backs— despite me agreeing to only replace one post. The owner, David, explained the total would now be $80 for work I didnt request or approve. He then said I could still pay the original $45, or $80 if I preferred, but I chose to pay the $45 because of the experience.
I also wasnt given back my original gold screw backs, which I thought most jewelers return. David said they couldnt contact me because they didnt have my phone number, but I would never leave my jewelry anywhere without providing my contact information to reach me.
The repair work was done very well, but the lack of communication, doing extra work without approval, and not returning my gold parts was disappointing.
As a customer, I was very concerned with the way my service was handled. You mentioned that you went ahead and completed additional work without first discussing it with me or obtaining my approval, which should not have been done without my consent. As a business owner, professionalism and clear communication are very important, and unfortunately that was not demonstrated in this situation. The use of inappropriate language during our interaction was unprofessional and not appropriate in a business setting. Additionally, there should have been better communication between you, your jeweler, and the employee who completed the initial intake of my earrings, to ensure that everyone was on the same page and that my instructions were respected.
