    v َ: I am so satisfied with my experience at this gym. The gym is very clean, with a good arrangement of free weights, equipment and cardio machines for its size. Out of the other Anytime Fitness locations in proximity, the Pinole location is the most well-maintained. Most of the equipment is Hammer Strength, so you can expect your machine to be functioning properly. They provide clean towels, snacks, and large amounts of sanitary wipes. You can tell that the management actually cares about their members. The environment feels comfortable, non-judgmental, and is rarely crowded. However, I’d say check the app to see when peak hours are, as the amount of people can get a bit overwhelming around that time. Another nice perk is that the key fob gives you access to any Anytime Fitness nearby, so you have 24hr access at all nearby locations. This has come in handy quite a few times! A bonus for those who have had poor experiences with nearby gyms: I’ve had a great experience with the staff. They’re kind, understanding, and most importantly… non-predatory. Talk to them yourself, you’ll see what I’m talking about. Such a positive experience is rare, and something that drove me to leave this review. Overall, I’d say it’s a great choice for who prefers a small, comfortable and clean space for their workouts!

    Kenny Moeller: I cannot say enough good things about P4P and its proprietor. Jasper knows fitness. Hes an asset to the Richmond community. Pro boxer. Raised around people who approach the body with discipline. Knows exactly how to navigate injuries while building you up. At least two pieces of equipment Ive never seen before, one I hated and now I miss it. Not ready for a personal trainer? TKO classes are exactly what you need. Am I a walking billboard? No. But for the first time in a long time, I felt so good about myself. Im in better shape than I have any business being because the trust he engenders gave me the confidence to challenge myself to grow. I appreciate that he also looked out for me. Like inviting me to Thanksgiving at Richmond CoBiz. The only people hell be more dedicated to than you as his client are his children.

    Wasim Younis: Team Tufunga is a fantastic gym that houses a wonderfully warm community. Deciding to get a membership and invest in a personal trainer here have been life-changing for me. Im a complete gym beginner and starting in my mid 30s, but I felt a supportive environment as soon as I first entered. Simi, the owner, is also my trainer and Im so happy with my progress. Ive already lost 35 pounds in 10 weeks and for the first time in my life I feel in control of my personal health and fitness goals. Simi gives you the right kind of push and encouragement, and he has knowledge and insight backed up by years of experience. In terms of machines and equipment, the gym seems to have more than enough to meet the needs and demands of its clients, who range from beginners like me to experienced bodybuilders. The gym never seems to be so busy that there are waits for equipment. Everyone here is really nice and the community vibe here is so supportive. They offer group lessons and also host seasonal events for members. Its also open 24 hours. Highly recommended!

    Octavio Martin: I’ve been training at Chaiyo Muay Thai for a while now, and I can’t recommend it enough! The coaches are highly skilled, patient, and dedicated to helping students improve, whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced fighter. The gym has a welcoming, supportive atmosphere where everyone pushes each other to get better. The training is intense but rewarding, with a great mix of technique, conditioning, and real Muay Thai fundamentals. The community here is what really sets Chaiyo apart—everyone is friendly, motivated, and respectful. If you’re looking for a place to train in Richmond, this is the spot. Whether your goal is fitness, self-defense, or competition, you’ll find top-notch instruction and a great group of people to train with. Definitely worth checking out!
    Get It Girl Fitness - El Sobrante
    Nominique Chico: I can’t say enough great things about this fitness studio. The owner and main trainer, Coach Latona, is so passionate about helping her members reach their goals in the gym. I have been with Get It Girl since she started in 2018, and it’s been worth every penny. I lost 30+ lbs in the first year and maintained my weight loss consistently. GIG has a variety of classes, from bootcamp, hip hop step aerobics, cardio kickboxing, dance, weightlifting and so much more. No two classes are ever the same.
    Planet Fitness - Pinole
    Saleh Elizzani: I recently enrolled my two kids at Planet Fitness, but I encountered several issues. They processed the payment for one child but not for the other, and I was unaware that the payment didnt go through. Now, I am being charged an additional fee, even though I wasnt notified about the failed payment. Additionally, there are many fees that are not clearly explained, which can be confusing and frustrating for members. I am willing to pay the membership and late fee, but the manager was unhelpful and made the situation very difficult to resolve. Unfortunately, I don’t have many options since they offer the most affordable prices and are conveniently located. Otherwise, I would consider going elsewhere. The manager rejected my 14 year old son entry to the gym, even though I offered to pay over the phone using the same credit card that was initially used and already charged. Despite my willingness to resolve the issue remotely, she insisted that I come in person, making the process very difficult. This happened again for two months and I had my son ask to cancel and they rejected until the overdue is paid and when asked for a written policy on cancellation, we are told by the branch manager that they dont have none.

    Ken B: I joined and started personal training one year ago mostly because of the convenient location, and Ive been very happy as a gym newbie and a senior, which it seems to attract. Staff is pleasant and supportive, equipment is clean and usually available, and the number and assortment of equipment choices more than meets my modest needs. Facilities are modest - 12 small cubbies with their own locks, other open cubbies; one shower (I havent tried), no towels. Meter parking closest, free 1 1/2 blocks away. I would give 4.5 stars if I could.

    Heather Luikart: Herro Fitness is not just a fun place to work out, but a community of fantastic people who cheer you on whatever level and whatever your fitness journey. Dawn and the other coaches/ instructors are fun, they put together great workout sessions and are always kind and supportive, weather you are leaning a new move or need a modification. Definitely recommend.
    Up Pilates - Richmond
    Kaley Berlin: I already love this place. Brenda has brought my love for Pilates back to life and shes gone above and beyond my expectations from an instructor. I have been out of shape since spine surgery 2 years ago (and Covid times). I found this studio after looking for a smaller class size to feel comfortable in. I have been here now for 2 weeks and feel excited to be back at it - feeling strong and challenged in my body!
    Happy Hour Fitness Studio - Berkeley
    Elana Marmorstein: No matter your age, fitness level, or experience, taking a workout class at Happy Hour Fitness with Xabier will make you sweat and make you smile! He has an infectious energy, and paired with the workouts, really makes you want to push yourself in class. Every class is something unique and includes a great playlist. What really makes the studio unique in my opinion, is he has cultivated a group that all works together to push each other to be their best during the class. Classes always begin with dynamic stretching and end with core work and a cool down. I appreciate that Xabier always offers modifications for exercises to accommodate all fitness levels and is considerate of injuries or any barriers to exercise. If youre looking for a small fitness studio dedicated to fun workouts, fitness, and inclusivity, this is the place to be.
