  • Happy Hour Fitness Studio - Berkeley
Elana Marmorstein: No matter your age, fitness level, or experience, taking a workout class at Happy Hour Fitness with Xabier will make you sweat and make you smile! He has an infectious energy, and paired with the workouts, really makes you want to push yourself in class. Every class is something unique and includes a great playlist. What really makes the studio unique in my opinion, is he has cultivated a group that all works together to push each other to be their best during the class. Classes always begin with dynamic stretching and end with core work and a cool down. I appreciate that Xabier always offers modifications for exercises to accommodate all fitness levels and is considerate of injuries or any barriers to exercise. If youre looking for a small fitness studio dedicated to fun workouts, fitness, and inclusivity, this is the place to be.
    Her365 Fitness - Pinole
Erica Ruiz: I can’t seem to be able to join on the website or on the app and I reached out on the app but no one responded. When I went in person the gym was empty. No one seems to answer the phone during business hours either.
    Gaia Yoga - Richmond
Lisa Leblanc: Anne Rene is an amazing, challenging instructor. I have practiced yoga for many years and she brings out a new playfulness in an advanced practice. She has a deep understanding of the asanas, related spirituality and has great music!
    DF Boxing Club - Richmond
Tanta Lamuy: Not a good experience at all. I wish I wouldve not wasted my money here. Do not go here.
    Juans Gym - Richmond
    I Flip Gymnastics - Richmond
Ben Emmert-Aronson: This place is fantastic! We brought our kids to open gym last week for the first time and they didnt stop talking about it all week. Cant wait to use the dropoff movie night. The owner is great too, and the staff are very attentive and caring with the kids.
    Equinox Berkeley - Berkeley
Paul Lasar: I visted the Equinox Berkeley branch as my next job may take me to the Berkeley/Oakland area. I am a 2 year member of Equinox New York/Flatiron location. Michaela generously gave me a pass to work out. Berkeley is an excellent club. It is new, clean, well equipped with basics, has plenty of stretching room, nice architecture, a food/drinks bar, water stations, cleaning wipes, and of course, cold eucalyptus towels awaiting your in several fridges around the club. While it is clearly 5 stars, I would just suggest that the music was a little too loud in the weights area. Maybe 95% of people are listening to their own music in their headphones, so music from the club is not really required. Otherwise, I highly recommend Equinox. It might look expensive on the face of it, but this is your health, and if you go to your club 3 or 4 days more per month because its a pleasant experience, its worth every penny of that investment.
    Albany YMCA - Albany
Sam H: Not a lot of reviews talking about the gym so figured Id do one. Was considering joining the Y and this branch was my closest one, but the gym is woefully lacking unless youre only doing cardio or calisthenics. No barbells, no squat rack, cant even do a proper bench press anywhere. All of which are foundational to properly build build muscle and do proper resistance training in a balanced way. But, if all you need from a gym is to keep your joints healthy and moving, itll do the job. The gym is also very small - which isnt always a bad thing. But there wasnt much space to "breathe" if you were working out and not using machines, or even any space to do something like yoga. Positives - the staff were nice, the free group exercises seemed good (if youre into that sort of thing), it seemed well maintained. It was also not very busy at all during a peak time. I also liked that all the east bay Ys are bundled together. That said, I feel like if all you need from a gym is what this Y has to offer, youre better off paying much less to go to planet fitness instead, if you are willing to drive.
    ENN MUAY THAI - Richmond
Damon Jimenez: Enn (Fairtex) brings real Muay Thai to his gym straight from Thailand. Hes a great instructor and puts time into each student.
    Bay Strength - Berkeley
Alicia Roy: Bay Strength is a clean, friendly, supportive gym! I was new to weight lifting and the "Learn to Lift" course plus coaching were incredibly helpful to making me feel safe and comfortable with the exercises and equipment. The community of lifters and coaches is amazing and Im so happy to have found Bay Strength!
