5 /5 Jim and Sandy Wynhoff: Im so glad we have a forum to share our experiences, as that is how I came to S & J. I dont think I have ever encountered so many positive and effusive reviews as I found in the reviews for S & J. As a result I arrived with the utmost confidence I would be yet another satisfied customer.
I brought in a Pendleton wool shirt that was a birthday gift. I had wanted one for a long time; but when I tried on the Womens sizes they just didnt fit right. So my daughter gifted me a beautiful shirt in a Mens size Large. I loved it! But it was huge on me. I concluded I had to have it altered. From the moment I walked in the door at S & J, I was treated with the utmost courtesy. Walker was very helpful, and took a lot of time assessing where the shirt should be taken in, and discussing, and making suggestions -- things I would have never thought about. Ultimately, it was decided to shorten the sleeves (that required cutting off the cuff with the Pearl snaps, and sewing them back in place), shortening the length while maintaining the curved hem, and taking the seams in on both the body of the shirt, and the sleeves.
As someone who can barely sew on a button, this all sounded like an impossible task. I thought the price was fair, and the turn around time reasonable. So, if you want to be treated with courtesy and respect; and have an A+ job on your Alterations, this is your place. My faith in all those good reviews was justified!
