1 /5 Emelyn Soto: I went to this place specifically to buy a christening dress, as Im a first-time godmother, and this place was recommended to me. I went on June 8th and found a very pretty dress, but the smallest size was a size 1, and the baby is only 5 months old. I knew it would be a little big for the baby, and I was okay with that, since I didnt know of any other place that sold this type of dress. According to the employee, this style of dress is only sold annually, so a size 1 would be the closest I could find. When I left, I asked the employee if I could return it, and she said yes, as long as I returned it within 30 days, with all the accessories, and it was unworn.
I also bought a baptism set containing a candle, a Bible, and a rosary. I need this set, so no complaints there.
I went to return the dress because I ended up finding a dress that fit the baby perfectly. The employee working was someone different, and she claimed they dont do returns, only exchanges. I told her what the other employee told me, and she called her manager, and the manager said they dont accept returns. The manager on the phone also stated that they have signs stating they only do exchanges. The sign is on a clear display case next to the register and is all the way down the display case; obviously, I hadnt seen it. The only way you can see it is if you look down or if they tell you its there. Also, the receipt says in English "No hay devoluciones, solo intercambios antes de 1 mes" (No returns accepted before 1 month), however, in Spanish it says "despues de 1 meses no se aceptan devoluciones" (After 1 month, no returns are accepted). Im bilingual, so I was obviously confused. I walked in thinking I could return the dress, since thats what I was told. Theres nothing else in that store I want or need, since I went specifically for the dress.
The dress was $95, so I just want my money back. I paid by credit card, and my bank is disputing this purchase. Management at this store should ensure that ALL employees are aware of their policies and post their "no returns" sign in a more visible location. Also, please fix your receipts and make sure they have a correct translation. Someone who only speaks Spanish may read the receipt and think they can return it as long as its within 30 days of the purchase.
