Tahoe Trout Farm - South Lake Tahoe (CA)

5 /5 Rich Hutton: This place is a gem. Highlight of the week for us actually. Great for kids and adults - you could easily spend $750-$1000 for a fishing charter on the lake but if you want to keep it simple or have young kids who need room to run around and save money, this is the spot. We caught 4 monster trout, zero skill required and the staff were awesome with our kids. If you’re looking for something to do in the summer, don’t miss out on this place.

5 /5 Tiffanie Root: Fun for adults too! My husband and I took a short trip to Tahoe and didnt want to spend the whole day on a charter. This was an entertaining solution! On our first day, we dropped by to make sure they were open (May 1st). We spent over an hour chatting with the owner, Jim, learning about the farm and swapping fishing stories. We went back to fish up our dinner the next day. We caught two gorgeous 16 inch trout in less than 20 minutes! You pay for what you catch, so be careful you dont get in over your head. If you decide not to eat the fish, they have several donation options! They have a whopper pond with some massive beauties too! Jim provides information on local attractions and places where you can take your catch to be cooked. All of the staff are super friendly and they let you get the whole hands-on experience. This was a wonderful experience, and we will be back on our next trip to Tahoe!

5 /5 vanessa molina: Definitely deserving of the 5 Star Rating! This is the highlight of our Tahoe trip so far! Our boys have been fishing so many hours and usually come up empty handed. The feeling for catching their first trout is one that they will remember forever! Not only did they each catch 5 fish (in less than 2 hours) but they had such a fun time doing so. The Trout Farm was easy to find, all equipment (fishing rod, bait, net, towel, etc) was included for a very reasonable fee of $10 and the customer service was top notch! Our boys could stop chatting with Miguel (the man who preps and cleans the fish) who gave them some great fishing tips, great fishing locations here in Tahoe, and even an Otter Pop before we hit the road. We would definitely come back and highly recommend this sport for a fun family activity!!!

5 /5 Lauryl John: Had a ton of fun! Brought my kiddos here for the first time. They are 10, 4 and 2 and they all caught pretty good sized fish 13, 13, 14 and 15 inches! The owner was very knowledgeable and told us about the fish they bring in and some history of the trout farm! The guy that helps out with the checking of poles and cleaning, I’m spacing on his name, was extremely welcoming and helpful. It is a little pricy but that wasn’t a huge issue for me as it was an experience for the kids. We went earlier in the week to a kids only pond in town and didn’t get a single nibble. Here we were catching fish within 15 minutes! If you want your kids to get the feeling of having a “fish on” and get the itch to fish here is a good place to start!! We brought our own poles but they do have all the things you would need!

5 /5 Evelyn: Such a special place. All of the employees are kind and helpful, even if you have no clue what you are doing. My husband caught his first fish ever here. The experience did not disappoint. Upon arrival they talked us though the process and safety protocols. An employee came by as we were fishing and helped us to bait our hooks more efficiently. Upon catching our fish, we brought them up to the entrance and they helped us to take the hooks out. We paid $1 per fish to have them cleaned and gutted. They even shared tips on how to cook it. We each caught a fish, 2 total. It is was cheaper than a dinner out, and was delicious.
