4 /5 Mike Lucero: I had a frustrating experience trying to get my son registered for Baptism at St. Philip Church. Despite providing the God Parents Catholic marriage certificate, I was told it wasn’t enough—they required additional proof of Confirmation and Communion for the Godparents. However, when I went to another parish where the Godparents were married, they accepted just the marriage certificate without any issues.
It’s frustrating that different Catholic churches enforce different requirements, even though they all belong to the same universal Church. There should be consistency in how these sacraments are administered, rather than making the process more difficult for families. If you are looking to baptize your child, I highly recommend checking the requirements in advance, as they seem to vary from parish to parish.
