5 /5 Tony O: This is not a resort, so if you come in thinking like that it won’t meet your expectations. My mom had two visits here. During the first visit the team here caught that my mom still had too much pain and identified a problem that needed a hospital visit to prevent a second stroke which was how she needed rehab in the first place. After that she came back for two weeks and did as good as a stroke patient could do. Here’s my pros and cons.
Pros: lots of communication from lots of people, helpful staff on site, good response time when patients click their button for help, several very patient and empathetic team members.
Cons: it’s not a beautiful building but well maintained, working here (or any rehab) is a hard job and no one is perfect, and hospital food is never super tasty.
This doesn’t mean everything was perfect. If like my mom who is now very forgetful, you need to be there 1-2 times per day to help support them. Otherwise the confusion that memory loss can create causes anxiety and frustration…that I was able to help avoid most days. One day I asked for an update from PT. The next day I had two calls from the therapist and the PT director.
So for a successful experience in rehab here, be there and involved to support your patient.
