3 /5 Atypical Churchgoer: Overall - ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3/5) This church had a very nice congregation that welcomed us from the moment we arrived. The mellow service contained a good worship set with a mix of older contemporary songs. For a nice, relaxing atmosphere this church is one to check out. Welcomeness When I entered, I was greeted with a genuinely excited person who welcomed me with open arms. Upon entering the sanctuary and sitting down, I was also greeted by those around me! Environment (what it looked like) The Spanish-colonial built church was well lit with natural light coming in through the numerous beautiful stain glass windows. Open doors allowed for the breeze of air to pass through the church. The church had a great sound system with projector and slides for announcements and lyrics for songs. The wooden pews were cushioned and 50% filled with the congregation. Atmosphere in church (the shared feelings from the building) The well lit church made it feel vibrant and lively. Though it was a hot day and the church was warm, the opened windows allowed a breeze to pass every so often. It was a smaller church that welcomed a warm setting. Time of Service: 10:45-12:30 Worship Music - category: mix of older and contemporary music - instrumentation type: piano and 5 vocalists - quality: great pianist with well blended 3 part harmonies - crowd engagement: good - duration: 4 songs Sermon The pastor helped create a casual and laid back tone with his casual dress. His message contained solid examples from the Bible and was life-reflecting and inspirational. Though the sermon had hints of humor, the congregation rarely responded. The pastor engaged the crowd as much as he could using props for visual examples. - duration: 11:35-12:20 Service This church had a solid worship set mixing older and contemporary music, welcoming the participants into the worship setting, however it was followed by the announcements during the welcome that disrupted the worship experience. Prayer and special music returned the participant back to the worship experience, which helped prepare the way for the message of the sermon. The service was peaceful and relaxing. Demographics - ages: a couple families with primary - secondary/high school-aged children, and a few young professional aged couples, but majority were 55 and over. - family oriented: somewhat - attendance: 70-80 - diversity: half mixed, half Caucasian - dress/attire: business-casual / business dress
