I love that you can do walkins or appointments. Staff and diligent and friendly. The place is pretty spacious and clean. I had a terrible manicure once and thought I’d never get one again but Linda and her staff made me feel comfortable enough to want to try again and the nail shape came out perfect, cuticles neat and clean and best of all they didn’t make me bleed (which is what I was worried about). This is my second time back and will be back again, would definitely recommend if you’re in the area and the prices are very reasonable!
Universe Nail Spa - San Mateo Cat Nelson: I’ve been going to Universe Nails for years. I’ve always had great service. Recently I started getting GelX extensions and fills. Today Melisa did my new set. She did an amazing job. Will definitely be going back to her.
K Spa - San Mateo Angelina Huynh: I had my wedding coming up, and came here with some friends for manicures and pedicures. It was my first time going to a nail salon, but I had a wonderful experience. The staff are professional and put a lot of care in their work. They also welcomed us right away and were very sweet and easy to talk to. I loved the results, would love to return again! Thanks K Spa!
Dahliana Nail & Spa - San Mateo Karla Garcia: The service here is horrible. They used to be good, but have lost their professionalism and patience overtime. I took my mom to get a pedicure as a gift — the lady doing her nails was EXTREMELY rude. Told my mom she didn’t have the right toenails for a French tip and refused to a do it if it wasn’t her way or the colors she suggested. My mom asked her if could scrub her heel as there were missing patches. The lady said no because it was “too much work”.
LChic Nails - San Mateo Alessandra Jimenez: Amazing service and price. The quality of the service is great. Very friendly staff. Business has been open in this location for years. I go everything two weeks.If I could give 10 stars I would. This place is the best Ive been able to find. Prices are very reasonable. The staff is super friendly and amazing on what they do. Being a guy and getting the nails done, most places do a half job, not here, I feel like I get a great service. They even have a little tool box with your name on it. ;)
Fabulous VIP Nails - San Mateo S Akintorin: Best nail salon in San Mateo! Absolutely love them. Helen is the bomb and my manicures have never lasted longer. They always do such a nice job and have such lovely facilities! I go every couple weeks!
Touch Of Beauty - San Mateo Chandni Karia: The lady who did my nails was friendly but my nails arent well done and it felt like she was rushing. I had one nail significantly longer than the others and she didnt notice until I pointed it out to her near the end of when she was done. She did fix it but looking at my other nails, the filing isnt even and the lengths between hands are not the same. Maybe ok to go here if you dont need nails for an event but if youre looking for well done nails maybe go elsewhere.
Kimmys Nail Salon - San Mateo Rebecca Julinet: I called a few salons in the area because I needed a gel overlay (aka poly gel) fill and this one said they did it. When I arrived for my appointment, they sat me down right away and I reminded them that I was there for a gel acrylic overlay fill. Not only did they go on and on saying that there’s no such thing as poly gel, but that I had acrylic and NOT poly gel, so Anna proceeded to put acrylic bonding liquid on each of my nails and my nails stared to MELT! It gets worse, she said she didn’t know what was happening and instead quickly put acrylic OVER MY MELTING GEL NAILS!
Below is the inspo pic I showed and the quite terrible final result. Asked for a refund, considering that my poly gel was melted and ruined, but they said no.
Bella Nails - San Mateo Christine Yoon: I had asked for ombre French tip gel manicure at the start of service. I even showed her pictures before we began. There was a definite language barrier. Im not sure if its not done here at all or if my technician, Tammy, didnt know how, but she proceeded to start and it wasnt until she showed me the straight French line tip I reminded her I requested ombre. She had her coworker come over and explain that this was not done for gel, only for powder manicures. So we finished with just a regular French tip gel manicure.
Tammy herself was very sweet and did a good job, but I would not return here. It was overpriced and I feel like, given how much we pay, they should try to understand what the customer wants.
Instyle Salon - San Mateo Yachen Sun: The ladies here are really skilled, provides great service, and the manicure / pedicure last a really long time! (My gel nails had barely a chip after a whole month)
