Lang Heather: This was a lovely smaller park to visit in the Carmel area. Many different species of plants to admire. FYI- This park has many people bring their dogs and we encountered several dogs off their leash that came up to us. All were friendly and I am not sure if dogs are required to be on a leash here, but if you are afraid of dogs this park may not be for you.
Destine Zepeda: Pre warning when looking for the cottages you are able to get a map at the library that gives you the locations. All the homes are in a residential area with a lot of hills. Walking may be changing for some. We drove and quickly parked to the side before taking photos. Many of the cottages were under construction or you had to look over a gate to see them. The cottages are located around the same area.
Yasmin hernandez: What an amazing little museum, volunteers guides here are so loving and knowledgeable
It has history about the whales and how they use to get oil from them before the Kerosene finding.
There are actually whale bones.
Lang Heather: We had a great time exploring this park for the first time last week. We went on a cloudy weekday which was great because we felt like we had the place to ourselves. We decided to hike up the mountain to Inspiration Point then continued onto the Animas Pond via the Talus trail. On the way, you go through an enchanting forest consisting of Coast Live Oaks. At Inspiration Point you get nice views of the Carmel coast. Going to the end of the trail at the pond you pass by some interesting bean plants which Im still trying to figure out exactly what they were. Overall, a really nice park!
UPDATE March 2025: They made some nice improvements to the park! I still have not been able to make it to the Discovery Center because of limited hours.
Teixeira Dylan (Blue): $12 to get in, but honestly, its worth it. The signs say danger and keep out, but that did not stop me. Great scenery. Im still unsure about the whole ghost tree thing, though.....
Alexandra: Had the honor of working out in Big Sur for an ornamental welding job within the last three weeks and it’s been a pleasure driving up and down the coast enjoying the scenery every morning I’m out there. Definitely fortunate for being able to live around the area and never get tired of indulging in all the sweet things life has to offer. Looking forward to working out here again. Stay healthy
Stephanie Notley: Gorgeous mini hike! You can climb to the top of the hill to get beautiful views of the surrounding area and also hike to the bottom to check out the tide pools. It’s an easy stair/dirt hike. There are two entrances next to the turn outs at the bottom of the hill.
It’s free to enter. Parking is just pulling up on the turn outs at the base of the hill
