5 /5 Stephanie Notley: Gorgeous mini hike! You can climb to the top of the hill to get beautiful views of the surrounding area and also hike to the bottom to check out the tide pools. It’s an easy stair/dirt hike. There are two entrances next to the turn outs at the bottom of the hill. It’s free to enter. Parking is just pulling up on the turn outs at the base of the hill

3 /5 Tania Segovia: If you start your day early, on a weekend, you shouldnt have a problem finding parking. What would be even better is visiting during the week. The loop is short, but several stairs to be aware of. Although at the beginning of the week the forecast was predicting rain, it was clear, sunny skies and warm. It was a beautiful day with awesome visibility. This is just 1 vista point along Highway 1, so its not my favorite, but its worth the steps. Take advantage of as many as you can. Not all of them require a lot of walking, but its nice to stretch legs after the drive.

5 /5 Carrie Rogers: Great spot in Garrapata State Park to get a higher vantage point of the coast. Beautiful views in all directions! Parking is limited, there are a few spots off the road right at the base of the steps up to the point, otherwise, youll have to park further down the road and take a longer trail to reach the steps. Im a wedding photographer and Ive taken photos at this spot at sunrise and sunset and both are amazing! Usually not a ton of people around but would definitely recommend weekdays if you want a better chance of a quieter experience.

Vickie Musni: Quite possibly my favorite stop on the whole 17 mile drive! It was raining so hard when we for there the family photo was ROUGH. No one else was crazy enough to be walking by we couldn’t even all be in one. About 25 minutes later the rain was slowing up and about an hour later I convinced my brothers we should go back and I’m so glad we did!

Mary Wholey: Garland Ranch is one of the most well funded and free to access parks Ive ever been to. Love the visitor center and well maintained trails (lots of options both easy or challenging).

Carmelite Monastery - Carmel-By-The-Sea

Courtney Walsh: This was the most beautiful and holy place to celebrate mass and to walk the gardens. The views of the ocean from the garden are lovely and we enjoyed very much visiting here.

Restless Sea - Pebble Beach

L BM: Wow! I can watch the waves crashing forever. Its so powerful! The name is perfect, Restless for sure! Definitely humbling. Easily found parking early evening. Bring snacks & stare a while.

foster smith: Such a wonderful place and an amazing view of the ocean. It is believed that this Lone Cyprus was seeded around 1750. It is an incredible example of the resilience of nature. Many artists have drawn inspiration from this tree however I find that Edward H. Mitchells postcard from 1910 depicts the trees ambitious position quite well.

Sunset Center - Carmel-By-The-Sea

Patrick Densmore: A beautiful venue for experiencing any performance. With approximately 700 seats it has an intimate feel and wonderful acoustics. We have seen the Monterey Symphony Orchestra here multiple times and loved it each performance.

Seal Rock Creek Beach - Pebble Beach

Prosun Roy: Located on the 17 Miles Drive, Beautiful beach, great place to laze around, sun bath, watch the birds and the sea lions or just chill.

Garrapata State Park Bluff Trail - Carmel

Info Source: Great place to unwind and immerse in nature with amazing views of Pacific Ocean. One can have a picnic or just stop on your way spend an hour or more. Trails are extremely well maintained with easy access allowing visitors with multiple options. Took about less than 2 hours to cover main marked trails. People were exploring further by reaching up the cliffs and/or going down to the water. Though there is a sign on PCH 1 south, one could miss it; however one can get curious and stop seeing many parked cars. Tip: PCH 1 drive - it’s worth stopping when you see many cars parked.

Point Joe Vista Point - Pebble Beach

Maurice: Another incredible stop on my journey along the 17-Mile Drive was Point Joe. This spot is something else, with its rugged rocks jutting out into the Pacific and the mist rolling over the water, creating this almost otherworldly atmosphere. Watching the waves crash against the rocks, you can easily understand why so many ships met their fate here, mistaking it for a safe harbor. The area is teeming with seabirds, adding to the wild, untamed feel of the place. Theres a kind of serene beauty in the chaos of the waves and the steady presence of the birds that makes you want to linger a little longer. If youre exploring the 17-Mile Drive, make sure to take a moment at Point Joe. It’s one of those places that captures the raw power of nature, reminding you of the oceans vastness and the peace that comes with just watching it all unfold.
