4 /5 Maria Eubanks: Interactive playground by the beach. Ship shaped with cushioned rubber floor material and beach sand on perimeters. Several accessible gates for parental observation and children safety. Swings for kids of all ages. Roller slide and climbing ropes that are great for building motor skills. Incorporated sound making and projecting pieces included. Bathrooms about 30 meters away. Plenty of unisex stalls on both sides. Family stall is locked and Im not sure when its ever been accessible. The drinking fountain was not working the last time we were there in January.

4 /5 Jim Kara: Ocean View Park is at Santa Monica’s south beach, on the opposite side of Barnard Way. It’s a good destination for lawn sports, basketball and tennis. It’s also a nice lounge area where visitors can step over to relax and enjoy the ocean view! There’s electric scooter rental availability with many to choose from alongside Bernard Way, just south of the tennis courts. Parking vehicles will be a consideration, with paid parking at the beach side lot or a few blocks over at Main Street Santa Monica. Random street parking may be available in the immediate area, though I’d caution to look for posted signs before preceding at designated streets and lots. While I love this waterfront park for its quieter, less crowded location, the downside is having to find cheap and affordable nearby parking and clean restrooms.

5 /5 Annabel Leyva: We went for a long walk and decided to rest at this beach. March is perfect weather time,not too busy and napping to the sound of the waves is relaxing. The walkway also offers places to eat and there are clean restrooms all along the beach.

Jenny Robinson: Was super impressed by the Martial Arts History museum. The layout, flow and display of the exhibits is so well done. Its interesting to walk through, read and learn, even as a spouse of a martial arts enthusiast. You can see they continue to expand with new collections coming soon. We were there for a special event and in talking with attendees you really get a sense of the camaraderie of the martial arts community. They have a solid selection of hats, t-shirts, sweatshirts and books in the retail entry area. We would definitely go back.

Ian White: Cool place to checkout and walk around. The historic house is pretty nifty, Japanese teahouse was cool as well. I wanted to check out the gallery and library but it was closed on the weekend. The trails look good too, but I didnt check them out.

Deukmejian Wilderness Park - Glendale

Armando: This wilderness parked is right next to the mountains and provides many hiking opportunities of all levels. There is a museum that has interactive exhibits geared to teach us about the local environment, the flora and fauna, and the wildlife found in the area. The museum also gives us a brief history of the people who have called the surrounding area home. We were fortunate enough to come on a weekend as part of a childrens interactive hike. They gave the kids brief introductions to scientific terms, took us a short hike, and then arts and craft time where they made mosquito repellent necklaces. Its really cool to expose kids to the outdoors and science. This location does a great job of that. There are also picnic areas where families can come and enjoy a day at the park and enjoy the scenery. I got the impression that it can get hot in the summer, so if you do come during that time, bring plenty of water.

Nick DeMarco: The Museum of Neon Art in Glendale is a really unique gem. It offers a fascinating mix of historic neon signs from Californias past and contemporary neon artwork, making it a fun and nostalgic stop. The museum is on the smaller side, and while some of the pieces could be displayed a bit better, the collection itself is full of character and history. There’s something really special about seeing these glowing works up close—especially the vintage signage that tells a story of old Hollywood and California roadside culture. Definitely worth a visit if youre in the area and into quirky, offbeat museums!

Gloria Hernandez: Hidden gem in Glendale: Casa Adobe de San Rafael Park This beautiful park is a hidden gem tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. Perfect for a peaceful escape, it offers plenty of shade thanks to mature trees, making it a favorite spot for moms with young children. While the museum itself is only open on the first Saturday of the month, you can still get a glimpse of the historic adobe house by peeking through the windows. The park itself is charming, with a well-maintained picnic area and restrooms. Just a few things to keep in mind: • Leash laws are enforced, so no dogs are allowed. • Commercial photography requires a permit, but snapping personal photos for memories is perfectly fine. Overall, Casa Adobe de San Rafael Park is a lovely spot for a relaxing afternoon. Highly recommend!

Catalina Verdugo Adobe - Glendale

Marta S: I grew up in this neighborhood and regularly hiked the trails from the other side of Teddy Bear Hill to visit the Old Adobe. The trails are blocked by fencing and there are houses on the hill now. The Peace Oak was still there back then. The fountain was faced with beautiful colorful tiles and we used to sneak in and turn it on. And, I hate to admit it...but we used to throw pebbles at the bell from up on the path to make it gong. Such wonderful memories. My sister and I walked there from our family home recently and recalled all the plantings that used to be there. It was like a homestead with vegetables and raspberries and other edibles back then. A wonderful piece of history preserved for all to see. The treaty signed there is monumental but I dont think many know about it. I know I didnt know until I was an adult.

Glendale Narrows Riverwalk - Glendale

Lois Wildman: I am handicapped. I had to walk around under the freeway on the dirt path luckily I had my walking stick. The rest of walkway was paved and flat surface easy to walk on. Perfect for a stroll and watch the ducks on the water. I think I also got a picture of some Pelicans.

Descanso Gardens - La Cañada Flintridge

Ryan Lew: I came here with my family on Memorial Day and what a gorgeous spot to walk around for a few hours. Their rose garden is truly the crown jewel of all of the spots. Their restaurant was not open yet, but if will be soon. Some of the flowers were drying up so make sure to come during peak spring to see everything bloom. The art galleries were also neat and cool to view.
