5 /5 Ryan Lew: I came here with my family on Memorial Day and what a gorgeous spot to walk around for a few hours. Their rose garden is truly the crown jewel of all of the spots. Their restaurant was not open yet, but if will be soon. Some of the flowers were drying up so make sure to come during peak spring to see everything bloom. The art galleries were also neat and cool to view.

5 /5 Syrilda Foreman: Beautiful garden! The train station and the ride are a highlight for young and old. The servers were helpful, friendly, and courteous. Prepare to pay higher prices for food and drink if you dont bring a picnic. Visiting during early May might provide even more vivid color and blooms. The 100-degree temperature threatened to be a deterrent for the visit, yet the ample shady seating, breeze, and cool grass offered a welcome respite throughout the park. Overall, the blossoms and their scent are worth the trip. Bring a picnic!

4 /5 Elsa Herrera: Its a gorgeous park in the city where one can connect with nature and relax. We ate a picnic lunch in the Japanese Garden and enjoyed our meal underneath beautiful trees, while listening to the smooth sound of water trickling in the Koi fish pond. The Rose Garden is spectacular! Beautiful vibrant colors everywhere you look with benches throughout. I wish they had more flowers blooming throughout the park and/or other areas with flowers. Unfortunately the Lilac Garden had no flower blooms and I believe the rest of the park is pretty much greenery, which is lovely as well, but it would be nice to see more flowers.

4 /5 Nafeesah A Kincy: I absolutely enjoy myself. It was so tranquil. I just took it all in. It was peaceful the roses, the flowers. The staff who were so informative about the different pinecones and she showed us snake skin and gave us a funny story about the lizards doing push-ups. the trail walks were nice. We thoroughly enjoyed the trains that they had and also they have a train ride that you can actually ride on it was an amazing experience. It was so peaceful. The weather was amazing. I highly recommend.

Once inside, youll discover a breathtaking oasis. The gardens are meticulously maintained and offer a diverse range of landscapes to wander through. Whether youre strolling through the vibrant rose garden, finding tranquility in the Japanese garden, or marveling at the towering ancient forest, theres something to captivate every visitor. The website provides a great overview of the different collections and seasonal highlights, which helped me plan my visit and ensure I didnt miss anything. Its a perfect place to connect with nature, enjoy some peace and quiet, and take in the stunning beauty of the plant world. There is also a small train to go over few gardens. You need to get train ticket separately. It’s great for kids. Descanso Gardens is a must-visit for locals and tourists alike!

Jose Romero: Me and my partner come here once a week to play some board games. Super chill, discreet park. Decently reliable parking on the street, plenty of seating, workout equipment, quiet neighborhood, great mini dog park, elderly community come and play dice or cards, and a small playground. Only downside is there aren’t any restrooms, one time the neighborhood kids were tossing rocks near us, and in seating by the alley cars tend to just park there making a good amount of noise. Overall just a quick park to unwind if you’re in the neighborhood.

Gary Standke: Picnic tables in the area which was once a cage. You can see the places where the animals were kept as well as many different cages. Free parking near by with a short walk to the site. All very clean and well kept.

License2Diva: We Are Friends of Rockhaven! Agnes Richards founded Rockhaven in 1923 after being a psychiatric nurse and witnessing the cruel treatment of women with mental illness. She made sure to call each and every patient a resident, and treat them with respect. The beautiful history of Rockhaven Sanitarium (or home for the Golden Age Stars) is the most vivid piece of history thats been forgotten by so many. My favorite actress Billie Burke (Glinda, the good witch), Mrs. Topper, and, well, just too many of her parts to list resided there until her death. Do you remember Elly May Clampett? She was played by Donna Douglas, who also was a resident at Rockhaven as was, Clark Gables first wife, Marilyn Monroes mother, Marion Rose of Vaudevilles Statler and Rose, Broadways actress and producer, Peggy Fears; Im just naming a few of the long list of golden age stars that have resided at Rockhaven. And, when youre enjoying the walk you can feel their glow they left behind. Its closed now due to the COVID pandemic but were able to go once in a while to clean up a little and just be in its past. To relish in the feeling of just being there, is amazing. Youre able to touch all of the past around you! This is something Ive seen only in LA and its surrounding areas. This type of museum interaction is priceless; its like watching a golden oldie but, being right next to the star you admire(d) so very much. Theres a group called Friends of Rockhaven that loves and cares so much for the Sanitarium; its so heartwarming. One of the many protectors Joanna Linkchorst has allowed us to become one of the many friends of Rockhaven and contribute to its survival. Its been such a pleasure and an honor to help in any way we can and my sincere hope is that it wont be sold for demolition or forgotten. Thank you so much, Friends of Rockhaven for all you do!

Carr Park - Glendale

Adam Cook: This is a clean and well kept park if you need a place to take kids to left out some energy. One thing that is nice about this park is the amount of shade it has which is nice and helps keep the playground equipment cool. This park is located near several hotels which makes it great for families that are vacationing in the area. We used the park several times to get the wiggles out of the kids before heading in for quite time.

It features an impressive collection of Native American artifacts and thoughtfully curated exhibit rooms that are both surprising and engaging. The museum has a unique charm that sets it apart. The children’s play area is spacious, exceptionally well-organized, and perfect for families. We’ll definitely be visiting again—this place is a gem!

Mayor’s Bicentennial Park - Glendale

Darryl Ford: Neat, but somewhat hard to find, little park. It has a restroom building, parking lot, and a (very) small playground (single play structure, no swings). Park is mostly natural landscaping with rolling hills, a few seating areas, and a couple of picnic tables. There is a winding little pathway that meanders over a dry creek feature (with little wooden bridges fording the creek). Park has a couple of small "overlooks" but you really cant see much from either. Surprisingly pleasant given how close it is to the freeway (which you can see from about anywhere in the park)
