2 /5 Josh Mitchell: I wanted to like these guys, but they really ripped me off. They did get my car in same day though when they were already slammed so I appreciate that, but I should have done the work myself in hindsight. They charged me $531 for a remanufactured alternator and claimed that it was a really good, solid part from OE+ hence the price. I could have bought it directly from OE+ for $249, so North County Auto slapped a huge markup on that part. Labor was $155/hr which is similar to dealership prices. I also came in and told them what was wrong with the car, so a $90 diagnostic charge is ridiculous, especially when the guy behind the counter said he likes “helping out” other vets like himself. They didn’t even offer a discount. They also charged me $20 in shop supplies, but for an alternator replacement, I have no idea what kind of additional supplies they would need. It really feels like they took advantage of me because I had a car that wouldn’t start so there was no way I’d want to go through the trouble of having it towed out of their shop to take it somewhere else. Sorry, but I can’t recommend these guys.
