5 /5 Dennis OBrien: Really an AMAZING facility! Friendly & enthusiastic staff, all are dedicated volunteers. Train rides abound (steam on some days) that travels through very scenic route with tall pines & beautiful meadows.

5 /5 Jared Erwin: This is a cute little museum that’s worth a quick visit while you’re in town. It’s certainly small but there was an abundance of docents that made up for size. Be sure to take a tour of the shop behind…very cool and interesting and kids get a chance to blow the train whistle.

5 /5 Amber: Such a fun experience with kids. The museum is interesting, and the people there are so knowledgeable and kind. We went during one of the weekends when you can go on the train. Parking was easy to find, there was no wait, and going on the train was really fun for both adults and kids.

5 /5 Brian Preston: All I can say is this place is amazing! Run by a very talented and knowledgeable group of volunteers the Nevada County Narrow Gauge Museum is a local gem. Showcasing local railroad history and artifacts the indoor museum is outstanding. The real jewel is the steam engines, there are 2, and all the other rolling stock. Their Steam Up events are a must see for any railfan. This past weekend there were 4 options for guests to ride. The entire staff is friendly and helpful from buying tickets, gifts, or riding a Narrow gauge train. I highly recommended this place.

briantravelman: Small, but very cool museum, and its free. The Joss House is the main highlight, but there are also some cool exhibits on the Native tribes, miners and Victorian people. Should not be missed. I wish they were open more frequently.

Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park - Nevada City

Jorge Aleman: This State Historic Park is amazing. The museum is well taken care of. Small and rustic but it shows in detail how life was in the 1800s to 1900s in this area. Adela, the Park Ranger at the museum was very friendly and is a great source of information for the Malakoff Diggins Museum. She warned us about bears and sure enough, on the way out of the hiking area, I saw a black bear down a small stream. It ran down the creek and away from us when it saw us. We took off in the opposite direction.
