5 /5 K: I really enjoyed walking through the museum. There were a lot of great displays categorizing his life, his loved ones, and his writings. It was fun seeing original writings and artifacts from his life. There’s also a great gift shop with his books, postcards, and other merchandise. Tickets were $15 unless you match one of their discounts.

The exhibits are quite detailed and give you good information about his major works including Grapes of Wrath, Of Mice and Men, Cannery Row and East of Eden. Also, plenty of fantastic biographical information as well as giving you a sense of what it was like for him to grow up in Salinas.

They have an amazing exhibit with the movie playing on a loop! I could stay for hours. I hope more people come to visit! His house is 2 blocks away! Learned a lot more about the great man!

4 /5 R Go: I had to stay one more day as the Center is closed on Monday and Tuesday. Glad I decided to wait for it to open. Steinbeck movies are playing in each area. Stayed for an hour just being amazed over his works. Now I have to go look for his films! Of course, I had to check out the store and they have a load of books to offer.

4 /5 Gary Standke: A very impressive museum covering his entire life. I especially loved the research of which location and event inspired which book. Unfortunately, many of the audiovisual stations were not functional.

Sherwood Park - Salinas

Salas Json “J-Gante”: We absolutely love this play yard, park area food our 3 year old daughter. It is completely fenced in, has injury free flooring and the bathrooms are well kept. Networking with the other parents was and is awesome to do! To let your child make friends and enjoy the ample space to roam is great for the kids. We usually take snacks and water for the kids. Its never a dull moment when here, laughter and smiles are in abundance!

Salinas River National Wildlife Refuge -

Darrell Stanaford: 5* for nature & serenity, 3* for isolation & lack of amenities. A little visited spot just off Hwy 1 with beautiful wetlands and isolated endless beach running north to the mouth of the Salinas River. No toilets, water or trash cans. Parking reached via dirt road (1 km) that can be impassable after heavy rain (offering the option of adding a muddy extra km to your hike). Sign says open sunrise to sunset.

Delilah Brunke: This definitely is NOT a swimming beach, but the wildlife and view of a more tumultuous coast is pretty darn cool. The sandy path to the beach is a jaunt, especially for kids, and the fact that some people bring horses and other animals and dont clean up after them ON the path isnt great. But its worth a visit to sit and see the ocean.
