05-2025 My Salon in The Best 18 Hair Salons in Modesto, CA (part 2) Magic Cut - Modesto Nicole Hernandez: I went to get my hair dyed and cut at Magic Cut by hair stylist Erica on 02/26/2024. Long story short, she left me with the worst dye stains on my forehead (see attached images). I didnât notice these dye stains at the time because I didnât have my glasses on/wasnât in front of a mirror (stylist had me in the shampoo bowl while dye was processing).
I was hesitant to complain but eventually got in contact with the salon owner, Dalia Hanna, on 02/28/2024. We spoke over the phone and I explained what had happened. Dalia didnât take any accountability and basically blamed me for the incident. She asked what would remedy the situation, which was strange to me because I felt as the owner, she shouldâve willingly offered me a refund. If I was a salon owner and a client had walked out the way I did, I wouldâve been mortified and offered a refund, no questions asked. I explained how badly the dye stained me and how it had irritated my skin (hoping she would willingly offer a refund), but eventually I asked for a refund and she begrudgingly agreed.
Over texts, she kept insisting that she sent me the refund through Zelle. I was patient and gave her the benefit of the doubt, even though I saw nothing processed through my account. Eventually, I sent her a screenshot of my Zelle activity page that showed I hadnât received any payment in the last 30 days. Instantly, she offered me a discount on future services that would amount to what I paid. I told her I wasnât interested as Iâm not comfortable receiving services from this salon after my experience. Her offering a discount and not providing proof that she sent the refund through Zelle (i.e. confirmation email), shows me that she lied about sending me the money/never actually sent the money like she said she did. After I declined the discount, she stopped answering my text messages/left me on read.
I donât like to complain or be unreasonable but I feel like this salon owner really took advantage of the fact that Iâm young, thought she could simply say she sent me the money and that I would take her word for it. Iâm also concerned with the lack of accountability. The dye had been left on my skin for almost an hour. My skin is ânormalâ and I never have bad reactions to skin/hair products. Since this incident, my skin is extremely dry and flaky where the dye had been in contact with my skin. I can only imagine the damage that couldâve been done on someone with more sensitive skin than mine.
Gloss Salon - Modesto Dana C: What a great atmosphere! I felt welcome from the minute I walked in the door. My stylist Ashley was amazing! She cut and styled my hair exactly how I wanted it. She took her time and did not rush me through the appointment. I booked a new appointment before I left to come back and am looking forward to it!

The main gal that I go to is Norma âď¸, the shop owner., she is so kind and patient, always. I seriously have so much respect for her . I have also been witness to how the other stylists treat their customers.; they show nothing but professionalism, kindness, and courtesy.
I highly recommend this WONDERFUL salon and thatâs why Iâm giving it a five star review. âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸

Jewelz & Co - Modesto Amy Auld: I LOVE Teresa! Shes cut my hair three times now. Very attentive to what the client wants, always listens and explains each step of what she does. You leave having a better understanding of your own hair. She cuts all hairtypes! I cannot recommend her enough.
Juanitas Hair Salon inc. - Modesto brenda luque: I have visited Juanitas about two times in the past and they have done a well enough job, no complaints. I had made an apt and when i got there i ended up waiting longer than an hour. this to me tells me the level of their professionalism and at this time Im no longer impressed. if you make an apt MAKE SURE they dont get "confused" and you are taken near the time of your apt. i work in customer service so i know how it works, but i believe nobody should have to deal with this much wait. They didnt even check their appointment list, such a shame. Dont think Ill be coming back here again.
Day of Style Hair Salon - Modesto Marylou Dejillas Borja: My son is very particular about his haircut but these awesome women always have him leaving excited with the work they did on his hair. I am super grateful about how well they are able to listen to his requests.
Top Shelf Beauty Bar - Modesto D George: I have short, fine hair, which was horribly butchered at another establishment. I read the reviews for Beauty Bar and saw some good comments on the Nextdoor app. One of the employees at Beauty Bar recommended Meagan. She did a FABULOUS job and fixed my cut. Shes very nice and I felt quite comfortable in her hands. Im glad I found her.
Project Blond - Modesto Shelby Hardin: Love this place! Lin. (sp?) did such a good job on my hair! She never made me feel bad about doing my hair at home which a lot of places do when youâre blonde. She was so nice and down to earth. She did my hair beautifully with virtually no damage and the prices are reasonable for the skill required. Itâs not easy! Sheâs a magician! I will absolutely be going back here.
To Dye For - Modesto Nayeli: If I could give 0 stars I would ! Jacky was very rushed , putting her stuff away before I approved of the finish job , VERY MESSY WORK, on the edges of my nails I had very messy polish wasnât finish work , I shouldâve never paid her , didnât deserve a penny . Tried contacting her about redoing the messy work and got ignored ⌠she chooses who she wants to do a good job to and who doesnât deserve a finish job . Wouldnât recommend booking with Jacky .
